Battery icon shows "Service Battery" alert.
Less than 2 years, still under 3-year AppleCare.
Can I get free replacement at Orchard Apple Store? Can it be done in the same day?
Thanks~
Depends. You need to bring down your machine for them to run the diagnostics. Then from there will they tell u if it's chargeable.
Can do in same day depends on whether they have the battery to change for u..
ok, just made genius bar reservation, hope it is free of charge...
Hi bro, if its due to wear and tear it will be covered. Otherwise if it's consumed it will not be covered under warranty. It happens to me once on my MacBook air

Wear and tear is consumption leh..
They have a diagnostic software to see if the BMS is working or not. At the same time they can also see if your cycles correlates with the capacity of the battery..
Sometimes, they just re-sit the battery connector and the error message will go off..
not sure how it goes, but when i was at plaza sing service centre, he showed me my battery was yellow on their test system and its not covered. he explained to me if their test shown is red it will be covered.
How many cycle are you at? I am guessing around 300++
It happens to my mpb mid 2010 13" too, I bring it to the service center and they replace the battery for free because I still have applecare. Batter replacement took a few days.
I guess it depend on what is the real problem.
So I believe a similar policy is still around.
Unfortunately my rMBP early 2015 13" is also having same issue. I will most likely bring to the Apple Store next week.
yellow means? is it not below 80% charge retained?
paid around 300 to change batterynearly 400 charge cycle. so it is still possible to get it replaced for free? that's good news...
I had the same problem. Mbp still under warranty till 2018. Found out my battery is slightly bloated, went down to apple shop for them to diagnose.
During the check up, they also noticed something wrong with my LCD panel, supposedly something to do with the coating on the panel.
In the end I got to change my battery and a new LCD panel foc.
nice, that the single reason why applecare is needed. there was a anti-reflective coating issue. mine have similar problem too. mine looks like that. hope they will replace it.
do you have problem with the rubber feet? mine seem to be like flatten and breaking.
Yep mine is something like that, but just a little bit around the sides and at the iSight area.
No problem with the feet. Bring it down to Apple Store for them to take a look. If it is still under warranty, diagnostic should be free.
Do they reformat your mac before returning to you? And how long it takes?
nearly 400 charge cycle. so it is still possible to get it replaced for free? that's good news...
i too doubt if i will get for free, still want to go down and try my luck.
Did you manage to get it fixed already?
