I was comtemplating to buy the current MBP (base model) 15inch for a while and seem that the new MBP launch is imminent.

While I am looking forward to the rumoured new features such as the OLED keys, new keyboard (12inch MB style), USB-C ports for the next MBP, I prefer typing on the current MBP keyboard.

I used to own a mid 2012 MBP but it gave up on me this year and I used the 12inch MB briefly but can't get used to the typing.

Next, all my devices are USB and hence, the new USB-C ports are useless to me.

The current MBP have a proven record for over a year and most of the issues, if any, would have been resolved. However, the new MBP is a uncertainty. Given that the hardware issues (overheating of my Note 7 and iPhone 7 hissing) arising from the recent launches, I am becoming more careful of buying new hardware during the initial launch.

What stops me from getting the current MBP is the performance of the new MBP. I will be using this MBP for my occasionally photo and video editing (CS6) using photoshop, after effects and premiere. Nothing intensive with some rendering but not sure how the base model with the intel iris pro will perform with these software. My budget, inclusive applecare is $3k.

Maybe someone can enlighten me about the performance of the MBP base model with these software.
