New or Upgrade?

Hi Guys,

Just want do a quick check, my desktop is seriously getting slow now. From press power on to fully boot up minimum need 3mins.

My parts are all at least 5yrs old, PSU, casing, HDD, CDROM all more than 10yrs old..

I usually only use it for streaming, doing school projects, the most some DOTA 2 or L4D2. Can my desktop do some minor upgrade to perform better or will a new one, like getting an aftershock all-in-one/desktop be more economical?

My cpu is older than yours but still working great, can play all latest AAA games at med to high settings at 1080.

If you dont want to get New system , upgrade your ram to at least 8gb, get a ssd for windows boot drive.

If you don't wanna spend too much

- Change to SSD for the OS drive
- Increase the ram to 4 or 8 GB

get at least a 240gb, 120gb is too small and just not worth it.

AVOID All in ones as they look nice but may be costly to maintain

Current Desktop is still good enough for esports titles like Dota2 CSGO general productivity tasks

If budget permits, go for new
BEFORE it gets harder / more costly to dispose of the old one.

1) samsung EVO 970 250gb SSD

2) KLEVV bolt 8gb DDR4\

I was thinking of buying these two to prep for future upgrades, and i bring over to the new setup when mine eventually dies. Will these be overkill for my current setup?

1. Uses M.2 slot which your MB does not have. Just get a cheap 120GB SATA SSD for your OS. When you upgrade in future, you will probably want an M.2 SSD.

2. Your MB is DDR3 only. Just get 2X4GB DDR3 on the second-hand market at around $50.

To move in ddr4 setup u 1st need to check your mobo can handle or not if not u need to buy bundle cpu with mobi to support ddr4..
As u mention ur part is more than those years..
If decided to change full set and dont forget to get win 10 OS as most modern PC driver support only win 10 and not 7 kinda buggy..
