After 4 years my Dell Aurora went ka-poot.
Was quoted this build from SLS:

1) Intel i5-8500 ($338)
2) Asus TVF H370-PRO Gaming Wifi MOBO ($255)
3) G.Skill RipJaws V 2666MHZ CL15 & 16 GB (8x2) DDR4 ($213)
4) ThermaleTake 650W 80+ Gold ($139)
5) Microsoft Windows 10 64Bit ($145)
6) Coolermaster Masterbox Lite 5 ($90)

Are the items decent / price wise?
What grahpics card would you recommend? ($200-$300)
Would u change anything in this build?
Total budget: around $1400-$1600 (not super price sensitive)

I have a samsung Evo SSD to reuse. Monitor/peripherals will be old ones.

The CPU-mobo combo is too damn expensive. Get a Ryzen 2600+ B350M combo for <400 SGD. And same-better performance You almost got scammed by SLS(no surprise by the markup there )

I have to agree with the previous person because this store you went to in SLS is borderline ripping you off. If you are going with a $255 H370 motherboard, you should get at least an i7-8700 non k chip minimum.

Power Supply is fine but you should get a slightly better casing than the Masterbox Lite 5 as the airflow is not good. Perhaps a Masterbox Pro 5 or Corsair Carbide 300R etc.

You should save that $145 and don’t purchase a Windows 10 from them as you can get a much cheaper version under $39 from scdkeys, kinguin and many other sites. In fact you can just use the free version until you feel comfortable purchasing the license online for 1/4 the price as the free version only has one small watermark.

Now you will have probably over $500+ left from your $1400 budget. This should be where you really put you money towards besides the CPU and motherboard etc. Perhaps an RTX 2070 or GTX 1080 would do you wonders for years to come for both 1080p and 1440p entertainment purposes.

the prices increased quite abit as compared to last week after browsing a few price lists like tradepac/bizgram.. probably due to BF coming i think

That is over priced tbh.

Can do your research for which shop to go to before deciding.

Things to consider for you,

1) Stick with intel processor or switch to Ryzen (cheaper).
2) Do you need the wifi Mobo? if not look at some other Mobo that would be better for you.
3) You can get 3000Mhz CL16 Rams for around the same price at other shops.
4) Go pcpartpicker to input your set up. See if you really needed that 650W. Quite sure that's over kill for basic builds now adays. 500W to 550W PSU should be good enough.
5) GPUs looking at your budget 1060 6GB will fit the bill unless you want to get 1070ti or 1080 series.
6) Cases as the guys said previously, get one with better airflow.
7) OS wise can reuse your old CD-KEY from your previous CPU. Just get the Windows 10 installer on a thumb drive.

For case, you can get a good refurbish case from Tech Dynamic

S340 Elite @ $90

They are local distributors for Zotac/NZXT and other stuff.

Add fans from Tech Dynamic too...saw them selling NZXT AER 120mm fans for $11 each. Not RGB though.
