Just bought this diy pc assembled by shop on Sunday;
Intel i5-3470 (1155) cpu
MSI B75MA-P45 (LGA1155) mobo
G skill NT PC10600/1333mHZ 4GB X 2 ddr3
WD 1TB BLUE 64MB 3.5" SATA3 HDD
XIGMATEX X-Calibre XCP-A500 500W PSU
MS WIN7 Home Premium 64bit

1st day : Took a long time to boot up after the MSI Screen and 1st Starting Windows. Then after restart, the windows screen appeared but the icons took more than an hour to appear. After a few restart again, everthing was fine with fast boot up.

2nd day, today : After the MSI Screen and first Starting Windows screen , the screen goes blue (with horizontal zigzag line) and then turn yellow screen. After that nothing happen.

May I know what goes wrong? If I bring the pc back to pc themes, do I bring back the box for mobo and psu too? I am taking bus from Tampines to there, so it's quite difficult to bring along so many things.

Thank you.

I will suspect the RAM first.

Do memtest on each of the RAM sticks one at a time.

Do you mean remove 1 ram at a time?

No just install one RAM in the same slot and run memtest for at least one cycle.

If all 2 RAMs are perfect, then you can go on to troubleshoot other components.

Why I suggest you test RAM first is because it's the easiest to test.

Thanks for your info.

I've removed one of the ram and it works. Then I put back this ram and it works too.

Do I still have to do memtest? So is it the ram intermitent? Still need to bring it back for changing?

Oops think I got happy too early.

It happens again. Now even when I removed the same ram, it is still the same. I will try to see how to do memtest first and get back here.

Maybe the guy didn't properly install RAM. Try using it for a few days to see whether got any problems or not if you're lazy to memtest it.

I will suggest to call the shop for assistance. Contact number should be printed on the receipt. Explain the situation to them. Maybe can troubleshoot over the phone with last resort to bring over the PC. No need to panic. :D
