Hi, I am planning to build my own PC and have decided on the following parts:

Mobo+CPU: Asus B85M-E + i5-4460
RAM: Crucial 8GB DDR3
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
SDD: Crucial MX100 256GB
GPU: Zotac GTX750Ti 2GB
PSU: Coolermaster V550 80+ Gold 550V
Casing: Coolermaster N500 or Corsair 330R
DVD Drive: Samsung 24x DVD-RW
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit

Total should be around 1200+

I mainly use by desktop to watch videos and surf the net. May be planning on playing some games like dota and mmorpg like ff in future (occasionally).

Anyone can give me some feedback? Like are there any limitations to the parts I have chosen? Are there better substitutes?

I am looking at durability and power efficiency. it will be good be my desktop can look nice and tidy too.

Thanks!

Your rig is quite OK and needs no further modifications. You may not want the CM N500 as CM's N series of casings have been noted by some review sites to have some limitations that are unacceptable for a case of that price point. You may want to consider Corsair's 200R or 300R for your casing.

Sorry, my bad. I had forgotten that CM's N200 and N500 cases have a different front panel design from CM's N400 and N600 cases. You see, the N400 and the N600 have a vertical IO panel on the front of the case and if you want to install fans on the front of the case, you have to take out the entire IO panel to install these fans which may prove very troublesome and a potential dealbreaker.

However, the N300 and N500 does not have these problems as these cases uses a more conventional IO panel design and thus you should have less problems installing front case fans in these cases.

Hence, you should be fine using the CM N500 for your case.

sorry to hijack the thread, but I heard that 2 x 4 gb of RAM performs faster than 1 x 8gb, can anyone explain why? and whether having 2 sticks of 4gb ram is worth the price increment (i assume it's slightly more expensive)
