Recently I've made a post on a possible gaming rig (thanks bros who gave suggestions) and I've revised idea after learning that 1080ti are mainly used for 4k.

So now I've decided to get maybe a 1060(or would a 1070 be better) to suit my 23' monitor and would probably play at 1080p? So what components should I consider getting at budget of less then 2k?

Thanks in advance!

Check out reddit.com buildapc subreddit to learn more. Some of the builds there are good.

okay 1050ti but then what mobo should I consider? Would i5-8400 be a good processor?
1050ti - esports 1080p 60-120fps depending on settings and titles.
1060 3gb - esports 1080p >120fps, AAA titles 1080p 60fps at medium-high and above
1060 6gb - AAA titles 1080p 60fps at high and above
1070 8gb - AAA titles at 1080p 60-100fps at max settings. High settings and above for 1440p 60fps. Optimal for 1080p 144hz monitor
1070ti/1080 - AAA Titles at 1440p very high/max for 60fps 1440p. Optimal for 1080p 144hz monitor for AAA gaming or 1440p 120hz monitor for esports titles.
1080ti - AAA titles at 1440p 100fps/4k 60hz at medium-high and above settings

i5-8400 is a very good cpu as long as you cool it well. For once, bundled stock cooler actually pretty useless for this gen of Intel i5 cpu as the turbo clock can go up to 4ghz as with a beefy cooler, means you need to get aftermarket cooler to utilize the boost clock well. Though you can still use the stock cooler, the boost clock won't be as good.

Turbo boost don't require any oc. It's auto. Anyway you can't oc non-k Intel cpu, other than through BCLK method but that is minimal as well.

no need to buy too good, usually those expensive one have better vrm.. so they can overclock better.. since 8400 can't overclock, so you don't need those top tier z370

Cheap one like MSI Z370-A PRO lor. Unless you want RGB (which translate to higher end boards and higher price too)

Like what NahtanojMil said, you don't need oc features from higher end boards. So entry level ones are good enough for i5-8400.

Yea I've been doing that but not too familiar with what types there are, cause Google usually refers to US sites which may not be available here :(

Okay so far I've decided on the following,

Mb: MSI Z370-A PRO
Processor: i5-8400
Ram:Kingston hyper 2400mhz cl15 16gb
Gpu: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6GB
Psu: superflower gold modular 600w (from old rig but exchanged a new one)
Storage: 250gb Samsung Evo ssd +1tb HD (from old rig also)
Case: undecided

Is there any improvements I can make? Is it okay to use older psu models of newer components? Thanks and sorry if I'm too noob

If you need wifi get the gaming pro AC.

Klevv RAM are the cheapest now. KLEVV BOLT and KLEVV CRAS II are good choices. The shop beside pc themes (tech deals) got sell them.

GALAX is the most value for money GPU. The Galax gtx 1060 6gb OC is only $359 or $369. Gigabyte expensive and quality so so only.

Fractal Design Focus ATX or Focus Mini (depends on which mobo you getting) is cheap and good. $79 only, good brand, 2 included white led fans. Put one input one exhaust and you're good to go.

PSU if rma recently and got a new set then it's fine to reuse. If it is beyond 4 years of usage, then change it.
