New Rig recommendation

Hi all,

Been out of DIY scene for quite sometime and my core2duo system is dying (think motherboard giving up, sometimes unable to boot have to reset bios/reseatting of rams etc) So have been reading up on recommendations by bro royfrosty and jian19 and others on current builds...

Usage will be more of surfing and office applications and a little bit of casual gaming and photoshop and some torrenting.

Will also be hooting a Dell 27" HM monitor.

Have SSD and ODD.

Would like to hear on recommendation on a Haswell build, here is what i come up with below:

Proc / Mobo: i5 4570 + MSI B85M-G43
Ram: Corsair Vengeance PRO Blue 2 x 8GB 2133mhz
Gfx: any recommendation?
Hdd: Western D Red 4TB x 1
Psu: Seasonic X650 Gold
Case: Corsair Carbide 540 Air Black
Cool: Corsair H100i

Please advise on pricing? as i saw on tradepac most put O F F E R one..

Wad sort of games u play ~ ? Ram no need until 2133 MHz since u not overclocking ~ Aio cooler not really needed since 540 case air flow pretty good and since u not overclocking it will be fine ~ if u think the stock hsf is fugly can consider CM hyper 212 plus @ $65 ~

Change the psu to superflower hx600 600w 80 + gold efficiency ~ $ 109

Light gaming? Leadtek gtx650ti boost 2gb ~ $ 201 decent enough.

Mobo + cpu ~ $ 348
Ram no stocks for that model only gskills. And do you need till so fast ram? A 1600mhz will do. Gskills ripjaws 1600mhz 2x8gb kit ~ $ 215
Wd red should be on pricelist
H100i at $150. Do you need a cooler even if it is non overclocked?
Corsair 540 ~ $ 160

The rest is fine.

Thanks bros for speedy replies! usually play those emulator games dreamcast, ps1, n64 gamecube and some fps games. but will be using it more for watching hd dramas and blu ray movies. So does a Leadtek GTX650ti boost can support 2560 x 1440 smoothly?

Actually have a Noctua N12UP cooler but if request bracket from Noctua need purchase receipt? (think already throw away during moving house) so wantedto try AIO watercooling kit instead of traditional air cooling, this type of kit should be easy to install right?

For power supply, superflower how many years warranty?

1440p monitor you might wanna consider the r9 280x with 3gb vram at least. Around $425-440.


You migjt just get another air cooler will do. Aio is not worth it unless you just think you want it is nice.

27 inch monitor can try get less than 600 from dell if u know what to do

if you plan to do so in the future, get the cpu with higher clock, or a k series to overclock. gpu wise a mid tier gpu in the market now is enough to run smoothly at 60/50 fps if your cpu is clocked high enough
