Hi guys i need some help picking the hardware for a new gaming rig :D
My budget is around 1500-2000++

. I'm hoping that this new rig would be able to full proof and handle games at maxed out settings for the next couple of years. (Planning to get starwars battlefront, aside from that its mostly dota 2)

. Is it better to have 2x8gb of ram or 4x4gb of ram?

. How do you guys count the wattage needed for a rig?

. Budget not inclusive of keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor, wifi adapter

. Budget should include SSD, big enough casing for good airflow(750D perhaps? open to recommendations), at least 1tb for hdd

. Is it practical to have a corsair H110 cooler ? ( fans are noisier compared to this option? yes/no?)

Thanks in advance for all the possible inputs :s22:

Maxing every game at 4k with this budget not really possible...

If you are playing alot of Star Wars Battlefront, get either the Fury/Fury X. 390X shown to perform equally at 4k with 980Ti in starwars.

2x8GB is technically better if you are going with mainstream (z/h/b) chipset as it does not support dual channel configs outside 2 ram sticks. 4 sticks for enthusiast (x) chipset. But ram hardly adds any performance.

For general guideline:
1 GPU 500-650w (depending on consumption of power for gpu and cpu)
2 GPU 850w (but no head room for OC, if intend to OC aggressively, get a 1000w)
3 GPU 1200W
4 GPU 1500W

750D is quite expensive for what it does imo...

H110i, don't know if your budget will allow. And if you are not OCing CPU, not wise to purchase a H110i.

Ah i see okay thanks for the input i guess i'll drop the idea of 4k res

I guess i may have left out some important information, im currently running on 1920x1080 and that i'll not be ocing

hmm so a r9390 is better than a gtx970? and from your reply im assuming that for gpu msi is the way to go ?

Erm exclusively for starwars, I think the 390 may have an advantage and more 'future proof' due to its (unnecessarily) large vram. Ramgate for GTX970; but at 1080p, 3.5GB is still healthy for most games.

Otherwise, most titles, both cards run equally just that R9 390 is way warmer to run than 970.

MSI (for btoh), Zotac (for nvidia) all good.

A liquid cooler, while more expensive, runs alot cooler and somewhat quieter too if you don't intend to push the fans.

I see I see i guess i will go for the r9390 thn since its cheaper too but should i be concerned for any overheating issues?
so for this situation 850w is better?
and mobo wise h97 is the way to go ? any brands that i should go for or avoid?

R9 390 is fine. There were complaints from users in corbell clinic complaining high temps (90+ degrees) under load. But I guess after tweaking the fan profiles, everything was ay okay as the native one ran a little too quiet.

850w you should be able to power 2 R9 390s without any OC head room. 550-650w supply is fine.

H97 is a slightly expensive. B85 and H81 are fine too if you don't mind not having some bells and whistles.

390 requires 750w saw it at the back of the box, isnt it good to have extra buffer?

Manufacturer purposefully oversize the power requirement because newbies love to buy cheap and sh!tty PSU that doesn't perform to what it is rated at and when the computer goes BOOM, they blame the manufacturer.

Actually, you only need a good quality PSU rated at 500~600W.

Any preference for colour scheme? E.g. Black with White/Red/Blue/Green/Gold/etc…

Placing PC on table or floor?
