New rig recommendations

Hey all,

I will be making my main rig to use as a secondary rig, and re-using the good parts for the new one. Need some recommendations as to what is relevant in the market right now. Also need some recommendations for cheap GPU to slot into old rig.

Most likely buying from TP/Whichever SLS store sells cheaper.

Highlighted in BOLD are what i need recommendations for.

NEW RIG:
Light-Medium gaming, Video editing, Programming (Third year into software engineering). Not sure to go I5 or I7 Coffeelake but will be contented if its better than the old rig.
CPU:
Mobo:
SSD: WD Blue 240gb (Have already)
PSU:
GPU: GTX1070 (Reuse from old)
Ram:
Case: Maybe define r6? Prefer silent builts.

Monitor: 32" 1440P 144Hz (Have already)

Total Budget for New Rig new addons: 900~1.3k.


OLD:
CPU: I7-4770K
Mobo: z77 Mobo
SSD: 120gb Plextor M5s
PSU: 650W Superflower Gold
GPU: ??? Recommend cheap one for watching video and light gaming (dota/runescape). As cheap as possible (2nd hand 1060??)
Ram: 16GB Total Avexir Core

Monitor: 27" IPS 1440P

video editing usually go for ryzen, for a lot of threads to help encode

in this case at least a ryzen 5 2600 if you oc, if not can go for 2600x
mobo, at least b450 tomahawk for oc

for budget purpose, can get processor off newegg as well since international warranty
mb muz get local cus...got chance it spoil
upon checking, the price diff between 2600 and 2600x on newegg is very small

ryzen need fast ram so at least 3000 mhz but sweet spot is 3200 mhz, u can just get ram from newegg, is cheaper and usually dont spoil anyway
ram size at least 2x8gb

psu a lot of options and i don't know whats the best value now

for the other com, you could get 1060 2nd hand, juz grab the ones with 4 yrs warranty left?

Yeah will b hunting for 1060 for sub rig. Anyhow i checked some rendering speed benchmarks for aftereffects/premiere pro but it seems the 8700/8700k is like 10-20% faster than ryzens best offering leh. Im kinda confused rn what the extra threads are helping. Intel seems much better price/performance and it seems like the only reason going for ryzen now is upgradeability as coffeelake seems to be the last iteration for this chipset.

those softwares aren't very optimized to benchmark on

but if you do use those softwares specifically

then intel is the way to go

softwares that are optimized for multithreading
ryzen usually come up on top for the pricing
