New rig suggestions

Hi, would like suggestions on what I should build, my laptop is dying and this will be my 1st desktop PC. budget minimum 1500 sgd max 2000sgd.

Will be mainly used as a media centre for videos and then gaming stuff like GTA5, Fallout4, Witcher3, those kind of games. Then some light photo editing.

Might need SSD + 2TB of HDD at the minimum.

The other parts for your recommendation please. Thanks

Media Center can be very subjective

Some people like their HTPCs to run silent
Some like to BLING IT UP!

Your budget is more than sufficient to get what you want
Just buyild your PC around your graphic card
A 1070TI ought to be sweet. Can play F4 and Skyrim with 2k/4k textures in QHD
But a 10606gb is more than sufficient for FHD gaming
Then build the remainder around the rig

Some things i recommend is to spend more on a good casing
Acoustics and performance might not go hand in hand, so a pc that is very overclockable may not be silent without expensive mods..

I dont mind it being 'noisy' cos will be using headphones. No space in my shared room w my brother so my computer will be in the living room like now, and I am using headphones with it as well.

Casing wise I never thought about that before. Any recommendations or places I should look at for it? Definitely gonna get dust filter for the case.

Actually with a Max budget of $2k and most likely not even hit it. You might as well get a GTX 1080. Not trying to say GTX 1070TI is bad but why not just get a GTX 1080. I believe it will be much a wiser choice with that budget.

Yep.

Easiest approach is to first choose the level of graphics that you want and build the rest of the system from there
