sata or pcie ssd really doesnt make a difference. either go for value or performance.
at that budget, i suggest going for value so samsung evo / crucial mx500 should be good choices.

1TB SSD is ~$300 or less? 500gb if he wants it <$200. Unless he is gonna use the full capacity of HDD. Then no choice.
There are people with SSD w HDD combo, they can't even finish the SSD space. HDD is like a few GB outta TBs of capacity.

Sorry. But 550W? I thought most will recommend at least 750W? More room to work with in the future.

a high tier 550w would still be better then a lower tier 750w,

system overrall power would not need more then 550w unless ur running a 3080 and a overclock i5/i7/i9/3900x

in fact a 3600 and a 2070s draws around 400+ power and hits the 80% mark.

a sata ssd for 512gb is around 100++, can get buy a 512 m.2 PCIE + sata one will do

1tb m.2 nvme can get for as low as $150 (crucial p1/wd blue sn550 on amazon). quality 1tb ones (wd black sn750, samsung 970 series) are closer to $200. 500gb ones are also under $100. now is a good time to get those parts. but also see personal usage, some ppl run out of 1tb very fast, while me with my 500gb drive still less than half used after 4 years of use :s13:

rtx2060 tbp is 160w, recommended psu on nvidia and aib sites is 500w. so 550w is more than enough, even if ur looking to hit max efficiency at 50-60% load. i only see the point of getting a higher powered one if looking to upgrade soon (for eg stopgap gpu), but realistically when ur looking to upgrade many years in the future, tech usually has advanced to the point where u can get way more performance for the same power. so for most systems, 550w-650w is the sweet spot with no need to upgrade like the rest of the parts. for eg, if u had a 550w psu with a rx580 and decided to upgrade to a 5700, u would be just fine keeping the psu, even though u are getting a substantial lift in performance.

I was assuming TS would be waiting for the newer parts. RTX3000 or Navi2x. Ryzen Zen 3 as well. I will be expecting higher Watt. Shouldn't the high limit of usage be around 75% or lower W of the PSU?

Doesn't make sense to go for 2000 series at all. Or 5700 series.

yes, still, dont need 750w. 600 max is fine. but budget wise a 550w high tier PSU is good enough.

thats 80 %efficiency at 440w-480w. 1.5k rig dont need a 750w PSU.

3600 and 2070s doesnt draw 400w.. 350 max. probably much lower most of the time

thanks all for the recommendations and suggestions

Yeah still I have to wait for the new CPU, GPU to come out

and also the release of the game

only then can a correct decision can be made

I am not in a rush to purchase rig now

Worse is that the GPU suggested cannot run the game as intended with the intended specs (1080p 60fps)......then may need to increase budget (+$100-200?) which I am OK so long the rig can perform for 5 years at least

If you keep to 1920x1080 @ 60fps, an RTX 3070/3080 should be able to last 5 years or more. Avoid AAA titles at max settings. Now can play at max settings easily. Years later, might drop from max to high, then to medium.
4k resolution @ 144Hz is another story.

Just for your information.

My power draw with overclock at 4.5GHz and playing DOTA2 on max settings with a 550W PSU.

siao... no need 3080 for 1080p60 ultra la. 3080 more for 4k60 and higher. in fact, high chance u will leave performance on the table with 3080 since at 1080p, cpu becomes the bottleneck unless u get top of the line cpu (10900k/3950x/5950x etc). given the 1060 and rx580 are still very capable cards for 1080p60 today (given they launched 3-4 years ago), i would say 1070/1660 super/5600xt/2060 is more than enough to last another 4-5 years for 1080p60. do snag those once prices have dropped.

I don't understand your statement. This is physical proof of power draw when playing DOTA2 with maxed out settings.

Sometimes I wonder why people so bothered about power draw when they are having 850w or even 1000w psu...have a 1000w psu but disturbed about high power draw of gpu is really funny...

Increase your budget more, then can futureproof further. TBH we are nearing specs that are not very visible anymore.

If cyberpunk is the game you're trying to play, try to get a GPU with DLSS. If really budget is 1500 I think going the console route for gaming might be better.

PC wise, for purely gaming on a budget, consider 3600 with 3060ti/ 3070.

Hi all

Went to dynacore today

I asked for a $1,500 rig that can play game

he gave me these recommendations:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard: GIGABYTE B550M AORUS ELITE $472
RAM: KLEVV BOLT X 3200MHz CL16 (AMD) 16GB $95
GPU: Galax GTX1660 Super 1-Click OC 6GB Twin Fan GDDR6 $325
SSD: Samsung 2.5"860 Evo $115
HDD: Seagate Barracuda $139
PSU: Seasonic Core GM-550W Semi Modular $117
Case: Tecware Nexus Air Tempered Glass casing(4Fans) $65

Total cost: $1,328

Because I don't know ask him question like whether can play cyberpunk 2077 at 60fps, so I focus on budget first

So for this spec it is sufficient? or I need to increase to few hundred to play comfortably

*I can wait until end of this year when new Ryzen comes out

*yes I did check PC Rig Recommendations by MoneyFace beforehand

$1500 can get you these from Aftershock, seems like not bad
