I find LYT's HR more chio in the show because she has the ancient classical looks. Not to mention her character in the show puts her in very good light. Very few actresses can act HR, so the pool is very small during casting.

MZY's MNC has more modern look which is more sensual and slutty. Kinda unsuitable for period drama.

If I recall correctly, OYK was really attracted to HR, even refusing to tell OYF that HR was the one who crushed his legs in the deserted island. He is supposed to be scheming and cunning yet he always unknowingly fell into her traps and pranks. In the show and novel, HR is said to be more beautiful than all his concubines, and her feistiness yet cuteness and intelligence drew him cuz he has never met such a gal before. For someone used to raping any gals he wanted, HR is a total refreshing "prey" that made him so fascinated and actually in awe. Yes, he's a villain but his lines are damn funny in this show. :s13:
