I think prosumer cards are around that price. As for gaming cards, you can have one for less than $400sgd. Like the 1060 and the 480.

Nvidia is a business entity.

Not the price, but the chip size. When your chip is smaller and yet you maintain the same price bracket

Smaller size means more chip per wafer and much better yield yet they still maintain the standard $5000 price.

GP102 might be Nvidia most profitable GPU give its die-size to price ratio. Heck it doesnt have DP in it and they still charge you the same price.

If u need DP performance go to AMD. Simple as that. AMD earns from its sales of Firepro cards that have good DP performance.

In fact, Nvidia's decision to retain FP64 units was such that they do not surrender market share to AMD in the high-end compute market. Else u would have seen FP64 dropped from Maxwell architecture completely, instead of being crippled to 1/32 of FP32.

I dont need dp, just saying they charge the same without even dp compute. That is really alot of "cutting cost down".

I am sure this time round they will earn more than they did during the kepler era.
