Hi im new to DSLR and thought of getting one. My budget is 800 to 1k.. Thought of getting a D3200. Any recommendations? BTW I don't know any about DSLR.. I want to buy for taking food photography and normal photos.. I mean, just a average one should be good.. Sorry if my questions are abit dumb!

if you mean taking photo of your dinner each time at the restaurant, I think iphone is more than enough. no need to carry a heavy DSLR for dinner.

unless macro, your focusing distance will have minimum...
means, u will stand up from your chair, take 2 steps backwards, to focus on your food...
then if you more particular, you will need flash, (note, restaurant will use nice warm "yellowish" lights ) which will make everything yellow - few ways to counter that.....

conclusion: go to clubsnap, there got more experts.

I use D90, FYI.

btw when u guys say marco.. is it build in in the camera itself or i need to buy the marco lens??? sorry ah i really dunno about all this stuffs

If you do not mind older model , than would recommend you to get the Nikon D5100 body only (at S$539) and than get this Tamron 18-200mm at S$219 or Tamron 18-270mm at S$479 or the Sigma 18-250mm at S$442 or the Sigma 18-200mm at S$390 to complete your entry level into using DSLR.

The Nikon D5100 has a side hinge for the vari-angle monitor , good for taking different angle photo and when not in use , can flip over so that no contact to the monitor surface.

The canon-EOS-600D like not bad .. but how come the price varies in this two website? the valuemarket one is overseas shipping?? includes GST? so should i buy from there or buy from canon straight away??

If not getting extra lens, the a highend point and shot can be better (RX100 highly recommened), cheaper and lighter :s13: you can learn the basics of exposure and then if really still wanna go for DSLR, you will know what you need already.

ohh.. tt kind ah.. my friend did also recommend me to buy something like tt.. G15.. but i like DSLR . i wan to do marco shots..

if you want to take macro shots, think you will like the Sony alpha system.

1. It has focus peaking feature when you MF (object in focus will be highlighted)
2. It has in built body stabilization, macro lens without in-lens stablization like the extremely popular Tamron 90mm will benefit from it.
3. It also has manual focus assist where you can zoom it to a particular area when focusing.

The sony a58 should be somewhere $750 or lower now.

Value Market is an online shop,they have an office here. Warranty will be by them,any problem can bring to their local office. They use courier service to send the item to you,when the item reach than you will need to pay the GST to the courier service company.

The other web site is Canon official web site and official retail pricing. If you want to really check local pricing , you can go to MS Color or TK Photo etc.
