New to I.T line

Hi, if someone is new to IT line and have no foundation in Networking or even I.T line, does not know subnetting etc..

What course would he be recommended to take to build up his I.T knowledge at least?

CCNA? MCSA?

and btw any good institution to go for, that have rebates?
See online have quite afew, like strawasia, ict.next...

Comptia Network plus... this will give a basic idea then go for CCNA

Don't go start taking courses without being clear about what you want to do. That's just wasting money. IT can be many things.

IT domain is freaking huge. Being in IT doesn't mean one knows how to build a PC. I personally think I know (more due to interest)... But never really built one before.

My opinion is that of furthering your academic studies and learning the basics of computing at the same time, since you mentioned there is lack of progress in your career being in retail line.

A diploma or degree opens more doors than CISSP/CCNA.

I'm currently under taking diploma in private institution, but the course doesn't seems to even help in future work. It's like basic into basic layman terms.
So I'm thinking before I finish my academic I could at least take up 2 course or 3 if cash allows.
But would like to know which to take first so I could at least have a brief knowledge, so that the next few course I take I won't blur like sotong

CISSP is security related. It may sound like IT but it is one of the focus area within IT. If your concerns are getting into IT, CISSP may not be favorable to your current situation.

As long as the person can pass the exam, being associate of CISSP will also earn the same recognition

Getting the next step of qualification such as diploma, as suggest by koxinga, is more favorable. Try to look around for those fast track. About 1-2 years ago, there were Masters, Degree or even Diploma without any pre-requisite. This will fast track your career than getting a certification.

Certification is good to have, qualification is mandatory to have.

Typically you need to know how something works before you learn how to secure it.

Common analogy: You need to know where your entrance to your house, how your lock works and then you know where to install what type of cameras, alarms, guard dogs etc.

This is a VERY VERY valuable skill in IT. Don't wait/look for people to spoonfeed you information in such a technical industry. It might spell the death of your career.

Thanks for the explanations, would taking comptia network + or comptia a+ first be better choice followed by ccna?
