Hi all

I'm a bit of a newbie so my apologies if this has been raised before. I got the 200Mbps plan from VQ, and everything was installed properly but I found that my new TP-Link switch is somehow limiting the throughput to 100Mbps.

My setup is ONT > Zhone (bridge mode) > Asus AC66U > TP Link TL-SG1008D (Gigabit switch) > Cat 6 structured cabling to various rooms

All inter-equipment/patch cabling are Cat 6 as well.

Between the Asus router and the TP-Link switch I used port 1 for both equipments.

When I tested the speed using the Viewqwest speed test page, by connecting my laptop directly to my Asus AC66U, I managed to get the download speed of 300Mbps (200+100). However when I did the direct connection of my laptop to the switch, the download speed came in only at 100Mbps.

I am somewhat at a loss, I usually don't mess with my network equipment settings and is a bit of a computer idiot and I thought the switches are fuss-free to operate.

I am now wondering if the switch is broken in some way - but if anyone who has been through this who can help would be much much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi all - embarrassed to report but found the problem to be a bad patch cable between the switch and the router. Will let the post stand as a lesson!

Thanks for reading!
