Within 18 years, voters increased by 660k while birth rate hit almost zero.

This is a stats computed by new citizen themselves.

1997年 1,800,000

2001年2,036,923

2006年2,158,439

2011年2,211,102

2015年2,462,926

New citizens is now 25% of the our voters, whether we like it or hate, they are even more than hard core opposition supporters.

Opposition only got themselves to blame. They should highlight this every day in their rally, and social media. They failed and got what they deserved.

By 2020, new citizen will make up at least 30 percent's of our voters, that will in fact, be one of the largest interest group in Singapore.

No prize given for knowing who they support.
是的,我的朋友圈里从中国来的新移民都在发微信祝贺pap胜利,而本地人都在沉默

This was the last chance to gain back some ground but opposition simply missed this issue, they are more interested to promise to give free money but dunno where the money can come.

all the loser EDMWers so butthurt over the election results, can claim new citizens as the reason for huge swing to PAP etc. such an epic joke.

suck on it, oppies

Majulah PAP!

Thanks for bumping my thread.

Analysis and data were published by one of the new citizen in another forum.

They will soon, demand for more political say since they form such a big interest group now.

They cannot come across as xenophobic... Emphasize too much and see the reputation gone. Not like it matters now.

It is a too simplistic thread. We do not have a zero birth but a low birth rate. It just means that more people are turning 21 and are eligible to vote. Plus, longer living expectancy means that older voters are not dying as fast as they did last time.

For new citizens that turn 21, they are likely 2nd gen citizens. Which means they have to serve NS, have CPF and go through all the social issues that true blue Singaporeans have to go through.

so give us the new figures. people do die.

if someone do a birth rate of years where they turn 21 to 24 in those years will give us a understanding of how many citizens vs new citizens.

get data of birth rates from 1976 to 1993 and we will have a data on how much new citizens.

death rate from 1997 to 2015

then deduct the values from all the 660k extra voters.. this will give us the accurate figures of new immigrants over these years.

Never study much, but can't help feeling the low birth rate is a problem intentionally created (for what intention don't know), starting with the stop at 2 concept very early on.

Simple math... it take 2 people to create a new one. If only stop at 2, at best is maintaining status quo. Replacing the old with new under the law of mortality. If really want to grow the population, every family need at least have 3 or more children. Then got decent increase over long term. So, its a no brainer that native population decreasing is inevitable (plan long ago?), with many not even willing to hit the basic 2 for 2 replacement rate nowadays.

The effects of new citizens are real
but are overstated,
if not grossly overstated.

Whether overstated or not, the fact remains that our country's rate of importing immigrants and NEW CITIZENS is the highest in the bloody world... We singaporeans are doomed...
