NZ in technical recession as 2024 Q2 and Q3 GDP both dropped. Not sure about Q4.

But NZ has more honest reporting.

Some country just play with numbers so that one quarter negative next quarter positive GDP, over and over, so that can never be in technical recession. And employment include all the desperate underemployed people doing gig jobs so perpetually “full employment”.

A lot of New Zealander are moving to Australia and hoping to get citizenship after 4 years.

Think from various media, impression its the lifestyle. If AU is layback, then NZ perhaps even more layback. So much so that nothing much interesting happens. Those that like to lie flat, NZ maybe a good option. But if have quite some ambitions, dreams and pursuits one, think NZ might not offer much.

Got saw from those documentary about outback trucker one. Got one moved from NZ to AU become trucker for many years liao. During one of the off season went back NZ did some gig trucking work there to fill up the time. Impression think abit cannot take it siah. Can't wait for the AU season to open and go back AU work. Its much tougher in AU, but more interesting and got more opportunity.
