Hi experts,

I am looking to acquire my 1st console unit and am looking at PS4 because of Monster Hunter game. But i am rather confused with PS4 Pro versus PS4 Slim and 500GB versus 1TB.

And does PS4 works on wifi for online gaming?

What would you guys recommend for best value for money?

TIA!

Make sure you have a PC and an USB thumb drive if you intend to upgrade the HDD yourself. You need to download the latest firmware and copy into the thumb drive.

Monster Hunter is PS4 Pro Enhanced. PS4 Pro is more than double the processing power than PS4 for less than double the price. And if you buy multiple games that are PS4 Pro Enhanced you pay relatively little for extra graphics.

Wow good to know! How about the heat generated for Pro? Do one need a cooler fan for such beast unit?

Unless the fan spoils, no.

Like your computer PSU and CPU HSF, consoles are equipped with fans that are capable of pushing out way more air, but are normally tuned down during normal operation. It will spin harder if it thinks it gets too hot.

Do one usually upgrade to SSD? Or its too excessive?

Too excessive. And ssd is too expensive for just 500gb or 1tb.not worth the money. Just get a normal hdd with 7200rpm. Or u could just go for sshd?

SSHD will be better off than 72000rpm.
I have tested 7200rpm is not that as fast with SSHD.
SSHD does help especially if you were to reload checkpoints and etc.

Since bascially SSHD have a cache which "remembers".
Between PS4 slim and PS4 pro, I still suggest you go
for PS4 pro.

Not all games are in native 4K HDR but at least with PS4 pro you
get better frame rate and improve visual on some titles.
If you are using a HDR TV, it will give you better visual.

Do be careful that PS4 is not like PS3 where there is RCA out.
If you are using PC speaker with 3.5mm or RCA there is no connection
from PS4 to it.

Either get a cheap TV with cheap soundbar
(Like Sony W610E and Sony CT-80 below $600)
If you want to use monitor, for PS4 slim you will have problem
since most monitor does audio routing from input sources very poorly
unlike TV.

That is why get PS4 pro at least there is a optical out, get a
speaker like Logitech Z625 which you have optical than you can connect to it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, really useful! I have a 4k tv and sound bar so it seems that the decision is clear. Haha

No need. Just bought a PS4 Pro after ditching my XBOX1. No regrets.

Anyway Pro is only a bit more than Slim. No brainer if can afford it.

Just buy a portable hdd will do. No point swapping hdd since it's more of a hassle compared to portable hdd solution. But note that the portable hdd can only be read by PS4 if you use it to store games.

Note that this works as long as you are not planning to jailbreak your PS4. Just update to latest firmware and you can do this. If you wanna jailbreak, only option is to swap hdd to increase storage.

New one firmware all above 4.05 so modding option is out for the moment

If you dont own a PS4 Slim
Get a PS4 Pro.

If you own a 4K tv
Get a PS4 Pro

If you own a 1080P TV
Get a PS4 Pro if you dont own a PS4 slim

if you already own a ps4 slim
Wait for PS5. Case closed.
