Newbie Cpu Ryzen 3600 Temp Hot

Hi, I just bought MSI B450m Mortar Max + Ryzen 3600.. The other components i recycled from previous rig.. First of all i have issue on the cpu temp.. I was installing a game and i noticed in task manager, cpu usage was at 100%.. I downloaded HWMonitor and the cpu temp was at 95 degrees (max reading limit).. I believe its more than that..

I would like to ask for suggestions/recommendations how to bring down the temp.. Right now im using mid tower case NZXT Phantom 410 with 1 intake + 2 Exhaust and Cpu stock cooler.. The intake was obstructed by the hdd cage..

Before i start gaming, i might need to tackle the temp issue first and the first step is to buy a new casing with better airflow and a cpu cooler.. Any of you have any recomendations on that?..Looking at Mini tower or Mid Tower and also a cpu cooler.. Meshify C / Mini are OOS everywhere.. Same goes for Hyper 212.. What are other alternatives? Budget $130 +- ... TIA

Something sounds off to have your CPU hit 100% and such high temps. Did you say that you was installing a game and not even running it?

Yes.. i was just installing a game..nothing else run in the background.. cpu usage was like less than 5% b4 installing..and avg cpu temp b4 is ard 45 - 50

2 intake 1 ex is better, u got mount the cpu cooler properly? u can use stock cooler as long as u not doing much overclocking. case wise got NZXT 510 or corsair 175r/275r. only thing corsair is the bad TG mounting , its cheaper though. u got aircon?

Go back to basics and connect up minimal stuff - retest the installer again and also try other games (just in case something odd is going on there).

Check that the cooler is mounted properly with good contact and thermal paste applied. As a test I would just run the PC with the case open until its stabilizes.

Thats troublesome but thanks for the suggestions.. I will do that when im free.. Ohh by the way, theres no thermal paste applied.. just use the thin layer paste that comes with the stock cooler..

then should not hit that temp, check ur CPU cooler mounting pressure after u swap the fans, 2nd thing could be VRM supply too much power, go BIOS reset everything to default. worst come to worst set all intake Fan at 100% fan speed and see what happens again, noise will be louder la of cos

The top and back fans should be exhaust. If you switch either one to intake, the air will just go in and out without passing through the CPU cooler.

You need to remove the middle HDD cage so that the intake fan is not blocked.

I think the CPU cooler was not installed correctly e.g. is there a plastic sheet covering the thermal paste which was not removed? Happened to me once.

That default thin layer is ok. Did you remember to remove the plastic film?

Mine maximum hit 97 degree and I'm not playing any games.

Current I got 2 intake fan at the bottom blocked by GPU and using Noctua L9i cooler.

I'm using a mini itx and cramp everything inside.
Waiting for 92mm exhaust fan to restock at the moment..

You only got 1 intake, is dumb to put 2 out. Your air will flow unnaturally, the low internal pressure would just means air will go in everywhere.

You should put 2 front, 1 back. That's all.

Still, even with that bad fan setup, it shouldn't hit 95 degree. Are you sure your cpu cooler is mount properly? Did you put thermal paste?

Fractal Design Focus G if looking at ATX. Nowadays, lot's of quirky designs with poor airflow implementation. Stick to traditional ones that work best. No one is going to look at the internals all the time.

Yes true that...although its nice to see your internals..but u wont be staringnat it 24/7... will take a look at the case u mention..as long as the height and depth does not exceed 450mm im fine with it

Yah i know its dumb to have more exhaust than intake after watching linustechtips video.. that fan setup came preinstalled with the case.. i will change the fan setup once i buy a new casing and a cooler..

Sometimes it may be difficult to balance the number of fans in vs out. For example in my setup, I have 2 140mm fan intake, but 3 120mm fan out because 2 are on the radiator and 1 rear case fan. And just like you mentioned, air is sucked in everywhere resulting in a lot of dust.

At some point, I will likely remove the AIO and replaced it with an air cooler instead.

If you are concerned about cooling, then ITX is likely not a suitable candidate for you. While you can get a bigger ITX case, it kind of negates the benefits of the supposed smaller form factor.

Depends on your casing and build.
The case I'm using able to fits ATX but not recommended.

The Noctua 92*25mm chrome black fan I want everywhere OOS including amazon and Taobao....
