Hi so my pc caught on fire and time for a new rig

CPU+MB: Intel Core i7-6700 + ASUS H170
RAM: need recommendations
GPU: Asus gtx 750 ti (reusing, upgrade in future)
HDD: wd 1tb
SDD: need recommendation preferably 250gb or value for money
PSU: Cs750m (reusing)
CASE: need recommendations on as compact size as possible, limited space in room
OS: Windows 10

Using comp for normal torrent, watch movie, convert movies, play cs go, gta 5 in future after I upgrade my gpu.

Any professional can recommend me as I'll be heading to sim lim later. Thanks!

Caught fire? I wouldn't recommend reusing any parts, especially PSU.

Please don't save money on a PSU. You don't need the latest skylake processor for your usage and not to mention i7.

Go with i5 and 8gb ram, get a NEW 500-600W PSU will definitely be enough. Consider superflower or FSP.

Whats your budget?

Don't need I7, blardy expensive. A i5 6400 will do. If got money for i7, might well get SSD and step down CPU to I5.

If PSU caused previous problems, not wise to retain the psu bah...

If not enough money can go for haswell save some money and can reuse your ram.

Hi, friend told me to get skylake for future proof. And I'm fine with i5 but he told me to get low end of i7.

Psu only 1 month old and on warranty, trying to save as much as possible

1k-1.5k. Wanna get a desktop to use for next 5-10 years if possible haha

Will be confirming later at friends place whether the cause of fire from motherboard or psu

Trying to save as much as possible then don't get i7. Your friend seems like he doesn't know what is he talking about.

Even non skylake CPUs won't become obsolete. You can risk using the PSU and if the whole system short, your other components get fried without warranty then you'll spend even more.

Don't be penny wise pound foolish.

Just scrap that psu and check if mobo still working...

Not a wise choice.

By future proofing, the only thing worth future proofing I guess is the ram, since most mainstream mobos by then will have moved onto DDR4. Get a good PSU that is built like a tank and it will last you for at least a good 5 years.

[PSU] Silverstone SFX 600W Gold Modular 80+ - $290.00 (t258jgn)
[Case] Silverstone RV Z01 - Bundled /w PSU

[OS] Windows 7/8 Professional 64bit OEM - $29.00 (Reddit)

Total :- $1,096.23

Buy from PC Themes unless stated otherwise
** Buy from Lazada SG App

" Buy from Shopback -> Lazada SG

Recommended a ITX case (Silverstone RV Z01) due to your space constraint, 600W SFX PSU for ur future GPU.

PM t258jgn for Mobo and Proc bundled, so all part get from 1 place..

Converting your video using what software and what profile settings? Is it gonna be frequent or just occassionally?

i tot ts bringing his pc back to the shop to check which part is faulty? so, which is the faulty parts?
your friend good at computer / have spare parts to test?

your PSU 1 mth only right? if spoil, just rma the psu...

CPU wise, can step down 1-2 generations if you want to save more.
i5/i7 - 4XXX or 5XXX series

Future proof is going for DDR4 and those new fancy USB connectors motherboard . not getting the latest intel chips.

Converting movie, what type of conversion are you doing. Need more details.
If you are just converting movie from torrents to smart devices causally, you do not need i7
If you are doing batches and more technical stuffs, hyper threading will be very useful.

CSgo no need high specs to play, GTA depends on what quality you are looking for.

Glad that you check first before plunging money on a new system. :)
