Hi Guys,

I need an advise on you, my whole company is running Windows environment.
I'm the only one using Mac, should I get Office for Mac? But I already got IWorks.

Secondly, my customers is sending me winmail.dat, I can't see the attachment.

What software should I download?

Appreciate your kind advise

Thanks & Regards
Eric

Does your work require you to use Office? If you're just using basic word processing stick to Pages and you'll be fine.

Winmail.dat is an attachment sent by Outlook to preserve Rich Text Formatting. You don't have to open it.

Something I used in the past.

As for MSOffice, what I do is have a copy of Windows XP with Office 2007 running in Parallels

This is incorrect.
MS Office is not a min requirement in any office.

You are right. It is not a min requirement. Some corporates have turn to google docs for some uses, easier for collaboration for some documents. Mindef for example seems to be on OpenOffice.

However for best interoperability, M$ Office is still the industrial de-facto standard for businesses.

But still popular for most office lo

Because everyone is grown up with the lie that you need MS Word to get even the simplest of Word Processing done. Excel for some spreadsheet related work and PowerPoint for presentation. You're exposed in schools that the office suite is the way to go when it comes to composing documents, spreadsheet and even presentations.

Where in reality Word is one worst software for word processing and PowerPoint is overrated.

Try some other alternatives like Pages, Numbers and Keynote or even Google Docs for a few project of yours and then head back to the office suite.

If we need to send out any documents. It's always a PDF.

Would love to try them, but is 25 sgd for one, so costly :( maybe will get the numbers to try since that is a replacement of excel

Personal experience, but tried really hard to like and adjust to openoffice.....in the end still fork out $$$ for mac office....

The interface for office is just that bit more intuitive and sophisticated... just a personal preference
