Such lawyers are pretentious and unethical. Unless these people have compelling reasons to kill, like the Spencer’s fil’s case, they should turn the potential clients away so that they cannot have lawyers to represent them in court.

These lawyers only think of the money to earn from these cases. They take advantage of the accused’s vulnerable position by charging them an exorbitant amount of money.

If they truly believe that everyone should have a chance to defend themselves, then they should act out of altruism and do it pro bono. Otherwise they are just in it for the exploitation of the accused’s situation to get the big money.

All accused are entitled to legal representation.

A man accused of murdering a 41-year-old man at a Housing Board block in Clementi has hired a team of lawyers.

Toh Chee Hong, who faces a capital charge of killing Mr Khoo Chin Wah Winson on Oct 21 at Block 311B Clementi Avenue 4, appeared briefly in court on Wednesday (Oct 30).

Lawyers Josephus Tan, Cory Wong, Devlin Mohyong and Silas Siew from Invictus Law told the court that they had been recently engaged by Toh's family to defend him.

The prosecution said investigations had been completed and asked for Toh to be remanded for psychiatric assessment, to see if he suffers from any abnormality of mind.

The defence did not object.

The case was adjourned to Nov 20 for further mention.

i think going forward going to be more of this kind of incidence.

just now at AGM got a white knight queue cutter try to push me out of my queue at the buffet spread (just some tea time yam puff, fry carrot cake and cheese cake), so i push back hard.

end up he join another parallel queue when an old man, i think trying to defuse the situation, let him go first. then he sibei thick skin ask his wife/gf to go infront of him dbl cutting that old man.

Josephus Tan got explain before.

If the accused is clear cut guilty, their job is to simply helps them get a fair legal representation.
Not what people thought, to help them get off the hook or fight for the lightest sentence.
He can only present facts as evidence and not make up something out from nothing.

Example, Toh kills this guy.
Toh says the reason is because of bla bla bla.
Josephus Tan is to simply represent Toh to tell the court what was his reasons and the court will decide fairly on their own.

If the accused already confessed to the lawyer, and instead ask him to fight for acquittal.
Lawyers can get into trouble, be it suspension and license revoked.
He says lawyers will usually reject.

Only when there's a big dispute, like wrongly accused.
Then there's a trial and you can find more court drama.

BTW his law firm is just across both Hong Lim Park and State Court.
