what do you really own in NFT games? Once the game dies/server stops, how do you access your in-game NFT? Ownership is still with game dev/pub no?

nft in game is just another fad, a scam
this is just another market place with extra steps
you don't own anything,
what you "own" can't be use anywhere else other than in the same game
you're just playing musical chairs buying and reselling such nft and pray you are not left holding the bag

nft, technology, future, revolution, all the fancy buzzwords
so what exactly does nft benefit gaming??
nothing

lol.
Plenty of people already made a lot of money by playing nft games.
We also have ceca developers in SG making nft games.

Kuma-mon made 100 usd a day by playing nft games one okay!

plenty of people are selling and reselling items in-game since the dawn of online games without using nft
in-game market place, 3rd party market site, game forum LTS LTB threads
like i said, its just another market place with extra steps

yet you have not explain how nft, blockchain benefits gaming, other than wooo look limbeh earn 100usd a day playing game
you are just jumping onto the bandwagon, monkey see monkey do just like those sponsored youtubers bbbj-ing gaming nft
no gaming company can explain this, not you, not your ceca dev, not even AAA publisher
take a look at ubisoft, their quatz nft platform is a failure.
they just beat around the bush hyping nft is the next best thing, blockchain is the future
yes the technology is there but how does it benefits gaming??
they are just implementing nft into games with no real benefits other than selling and reselling of items which is the same as a common market place

in fact imo, nft is bad for gaming
why?
you have dev/publisher spending more resources on implementing nft related stuff rather than focusing on gameplay, storyline, game design, innovation etc

No. Ownership is still retained by the purchaser of the asset, usually the wealthier players or gaming guilds. The gamedev/publisher do not own anything on the blockchain other than their own assets that have not been sold.

And majority of the players come from the many poor countries in ASEAN. They don't own the asset, they rent it from gaming guilds in order to play.

The market cap determines whether the game can survive. Axie Infinity market cap is approximate $6B already.
Many console/PC AAA games could not even generate $1B revenue and yet Axie already surpassed $1.2B revenue.

You have severely inflated expectations and self-entitlement.
NFT gaming benefits the many people in ASEAN and the population of these countries are much poorer than those in SG.

So this space do not need to care about you and nobody needs to give you an explanation.

I do not need to explain anything to you. Because you do not deserve one, you are simply pretending that as if you know better and yet could not do your own research.
To say NFT is bad for gaming only shows that you are ignorant of the disruption that is happening to gaming for the people in ASEAN.

Note: Added him to the block list because he is a troll and spreads FUD.

LOL good luck whatever you're smoking

nft is only as good as you make whatever money you can and exit before everyone else realise its a fraud, a scam
its not a substainable business model esp when the hype goes off and ppl find out its a scam and lose interest
its the same for art nft and game nft
good luck holding the bag when the music stop

how do you access the asset you own if the game is shut down? Likewise for NFT images, you essentially own the link to the image. If the image is no longer hosted, how do you access it?

Unless people are changing their EULAs, nothing is owned by user especially for games since dev owns even your account

The asset on the blockchain is immutable. The marketplace is only meant to show the images, they do not own the images/NFTs. The digital wallets also can host the NFTs themselves. So when Grail Market decided to shut down, I unlisted my stuff, NFTs goes back into the wallet and re-listed on Exchange.art. You can see all your NFTs in the relevant wallet.

You won't lose your NFTs unless you clicked on some phlishing link that forces your wallet to transfer all the data over to the hacker.

It is also very unlikely that the game server will shut down when the company is making a lot of profit. I am referring to legit NFT games, not scams or rugpulls.
The game accounts do not own the NFTs, they can only show it and gather data from the blockchain and use it for authentication.

Only the wallet address owns the NFTs on the blockchain.
