The school is well established but heard that the Computer Science course is tough.

guys, Adelaide is one of the better Australian univ. Don't know much of the local setup.

Heard quite a fair bit of good comments about lecturers over in adelaide uni flying over to naaec to teach during the weekends and since adelaide uni , like you said ,is one of the better australian unis out there , should be ok.The only negative point about this course is that it can only be done part-time locally.

Agreed, a full time program would be good. Wished also they had it for JC people. Know people in that group would like to do it.

This course is an articulation program meaning poly students with related computing diploma are granted 2 yrs advance standing and proceed into yr 3.If A level students go in , think they got to start from scratch.Another factor I guess is that those who go for A level in the first place already have plans for entry to local university or overseas prestigious universities.Btw are you a JC student ? I remember a particular question they asked when I filled in the registration form "Would you like it if this course is conducted full-time too ? "

Yes, I know it is for poly people. Some of my friends are interested but are from JCs.

Hi guys,

hope this will help as i've been through this half of this programme...

here's my feedback:

Adelaide is indeed a good school, good reputation and this is a good degree. But the way NAAEC delivers the knowledge to students is pretty intensive. I'm not sure if you know how the schedule is like, but here an example for 1 module:

If u are going to take 1 module for this term (3 months), the schedule will be

1st month, burn one weekend base on these timing:
Friday: 7pm to 10pm
Saturday: 1pm to 8pm
Sunday: 9am to 5pm

This will cover 1st half of the module

2nd month, burn one weekend base on the same timing:
Friday: 7pm to 10pm
Saturday: 1pm to 8pm
Sunday: 9am to 5pm

This will cover the remaining half of your degree

3rd month, EXAM!

This is a part-time programme. Thus, if you are working full-time and if u are not mentally strong, this is gonna be tough because this is like a 'crash course'. But no doubt, if u can survive this, u can get ur degree within 1.5 years or even earlier.

If you are a student who can understand concepts and theories very well, this is a degree for you definitely. But if you are the 'hands-on' kind of student who loves project work, sorry mate, i don't think this is ideal for you

Please don't think that i am discouraging you to take this degree programme, because i have friends who are doing very well :)

If anyone have any questions, can feel free to pm me :D

I thought this programme is mostly based on programming? so should be good for those hands on kind, isn't it? According to you.. it means only 1 month only 1 weekend? which is 3 days? 2 months 6 days? and the last month will be exam?

yes...your assignments are all programming work. but you must have really good understanding of the concepts in order to complete your assignment. in another words, you don't really have much free play in your codings

Yes, means in total only 6 days of lessons. that's why i said it's considered 'crash course' style :)

you mean 6 lessons + 1 exam = 3 months = $2000~? Wow, that's so ex man.. I am seriously still considering if I should take up this offer or go for uni of wollongong.. anyway.. what is the major difference between bach of IT or bach of computer science?

so for this course, can i say that it is mostly assignment based? alot of programming? not so much on theory? am i right?

and which is 'more recognised' in singapore? this course of uni of wollongong by SIM?
