I plan to go Nikko for 2 days. Day 1 covers all the nature from Chuzenji Onsen to Yumoto Onsen including side trip to Kotaru Ranch and fall in at Yumoto Onsen. On Day 2, we will catch the first bus back to central Nikko to tour the Toshogu Shrine and the surroundings.
I do not know when we would finish the second day so I have really no idea on which timeslot to book the Express Train “SPACIA”. So how many hours/days in advance do we have to reserve?
How do you think of spending 8 hours at central Nikko? Should I visit Kotaru Ranch in the morning on Day 2 instead of Day 1 which will trim our time at central Nikko to 4-5 hours.
Basically
Day 1: Chuzenji Onsen to Yumoto Onsen (hike in Senjogahara Plateau OR spend longer time at each waterfall and the lake)
Day 2: Kotaru Ranch + Toshogu Shrine and its surroundings
OR
Day 1: Chuzenji Onsen to Yumoto Onsen without hiking in Senjoahara Plateau and with side trip to Kotoku Ranch
Day 2: Full day in Toshogu Shrine and its surroundings
Do you have any other suggested itinerary for 2 days in Nikko? Assume that I booked a night’s stay at Yumoto Onsen.
