I don't own a Switch but from what I understand:

- This gift card is to top up your US Nintendo account's wallet balance.

- When you buy something from US eShop, the order amount is first deducted from your wallet balance (if any).

- If your wallet balance is not enough to fully pay for the order, then the remaining amount is charged to your normal payment method (credit card, paypal). ie. the 'mix' that you are referring to.

- I don't know if there is any minimum amount that Nintendo charges to cc/paypal. Like if you have $10 wallet balance and you buy $11, does Nintendo charge $1 to cc/paypal (ending up with $0 wallet balance)? Or do they charge a minimum of, for example $10 (ending up with $9 wallet balance). (For reference, the Singapore Playstation store has S$10 minimum.)

- Note that if your Nintendo account has any wallet balance amount, you cannot change the region of that account. Basically Nintendo doesn't want to deal with currency exchange, so if your account is US region and you have US$ balance, you can't change it to Japan or other region account.

Any confirmation or clarification from Switch owners are welcome.

Yeah this is the mix i am talking about. I switch regions to make use of the cheaper E-store purchases.

This is correct. After deducting wallet amount, you can still choose to top up exact to pay off the remainder. No need to do fixed amount top up.

The only issue with this gift card is that most of the US eShop games are more ex compared to other regions.

Thanks for confirming. Just to clarify, on the Playstation side, SG psn has a S$10 minimum for cc/paypal transactions, however that doesn't mean you must pay in blocks of S$10. For example, if your order exceeds your wallet balance by $1 (which is <$10), then they will charge your cc/paypal $10, leaving you with $9 wallet balance. If your order exceeds your wallet balance by $12.34 (which is >$10), then they will charge exactly $12.34 to cc/paypal (not $20, for example), leaving $0 wallet balance. This minimum amount is probably to make sure they dont lose too much due to cc commission and bank overhead.

So Nintendo eShop doesn't have this minimum amount and always charges exactly, even if just a few dollars or a few cents?

Yes. I bought Link's Awakening DX before on my 3DS and the price of that game is definitely below S$10.
Nintendo e-shop allows you to top-up exact amount you need to purchase game.

I suppose your PSN examples only apply to PSN SG?
I mainly buy games from PSN US and from what I know we can't use Paypal or CC. So I always have to top up using PSN Cards.

So amazing this thread already part 2.

So many willing to pay $70-$80 for games.

I am still waiting for games to release especially Pokemon main series to NS

Why is NS games so expensive? Disgaea 5 $79.90
Borderman $69
Street fighter $59.90

Price from qisahn.

What make u guys buy the NS even though right now not much games and overprice ports?

I think only game really worth the money is zelda although I have no interest.

Like the idea of NS cuz I always play ps4 remote play when I'm out but the game pricing especially the Ports OMG triple AAA titles price.

Game expensive, resell also higher, Sold my splatoon for 74 and even unpopular titles like tetris i could easily sell for 40+. Bought NS cos i love the portability and the idea of sharing the portability with others. Have already bought my switch to several friends house to play overcook and MK8! :s12:

People place different value to a game.
For me, it's rarely worth it to buy AAA games at full price, because most of the time the price will drop sharply within 3-6 months.
Nintendo games tend to hold their price forever, so timing only matters in the sense of when you want to play. I guess most people buy NS to play Zelda, MK8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2, which are all Nintendo games.
I don't see any big 3rd party game on the system except maybe Bomberman, which is definitely not sold at the launch price of AAA title on PS4 (though I agree that game is still overpriced).

your number of device to play remote ps4 is definitely more expensive then owning a single switch. switch is a system with 2 controller come with it, any where two playes on the move ,also not forgetting the electricity bill also higher for your ps4 to run remotely as it has to be turn on at home when you are outside. those extra cost on electricity bill we top up to buy nintendo switch games or digital are worth it cuz we can travel to another end of singapore with lack of signal and can still play together with friends. haha no matter how many AAA games you buy on ps4 you can't have this convenient

sorry, anyone can help me here?
I tried to buy the sonic mania from the russia e store
this afternoon, i purchase it using the web broswer, and i received the SMS from the bank that my card is charged.
But evening when I go home, the game was not downloaded to my switch.
So I go to the eshop on my switch, i realised that I can still purchase the game.
So I go through the steps, enter card details, then submit.
And I received sms from bank that my card is charged again.
But i go back to the eshop game, the game is not purchased nor it is downloading automatically.
anyone knows what happen?
