it would be interesting if this device starts the trend of strangers gaming together during commute. Pokemon GO sorta did that and succeed in some degree (though that didn't last too long)

anyways, have you guys said/prepare your goodbye to your pre-switch world yet?

Guys, just wondering since the Switch is region free, is it possible to buy the console from Japan? I have step-family living in Japan and they can help me ship one over.

It seems to be 29980 Yen over there = around $375 SGD + a little bit of shipping fee, perhaps around 410++? It's gonna be immensely cheaper than buying one here but I'm just worried if I can't play the games I buy here in SG or online play is fixed to Japanese serves... If anyone can help a brother out here :)

Remember to factor in local Japanese taxes of 8%. It'll be 32378 yen with tax + whatever your shipping is.

It might be cheaper to just buy from Amazon Japan and ship directly. Depending on the exchange rate they use, you won't need to pay for GST. A couple of us are getting it for 31568 yen shipping inclusive.

Family ship to u sure kenna GST. $410 + 7 percent gst = $428. Cheapest Zelda costs $79 here if u preorder and $89 if u dont. $428 + $79/89 = $507/517. You can get the local bundle at just $5xx that comes with Zelda and 1-2 Switch few days ago.

Will JP Amazon have the same deal again? I mean, the console is coming out in abouta weeks time

29,980 yen is the official RRP of the Switch. When it is back in stock by Amazon Japan, it will be at that price (or lower if there's a promotion).

finally couldnt resist it and preordered a set

I did the exact opposite, finally cancelled my amazon PO. Lack of games i ok, lack of functions i ok, hardware failure that is a dealbreaker man. How can the joycons drop signal/lag randomly, thats basic functionality. PS3/XB360/PS4/XB1 all dun have such problem. Then i also dunno warranty got cover such problems or not. Sekali dun have.

Liddat force ppl to get pro controller, no thanks they need a much sharper knife to chop my carrot.

I managed to po a set, but I think it will only arrived mid march due to sg customs. At the earliest maybe the 9th but that's really optimistic.

I am taking the risk though, mainly because only US sets are reported to have the problem, european and jpn sets seems ok. Anyway mine is the grey set, worst come worst I get a coloured set of joy con.
