Is the Japanese version in Japanese out of box, can change to English?
Based on the video posted earlier showing the initial set up, should be able to.

When you power it up, first screen asks you to select language, many choices (no Chinese though, Nintendo already confirmed long ago that the UI menu does not support Chinese, which upsets the Taiwanese).

Then the next screen asks you to select your region. The choices are America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Japan. No Asia region listed.

Cool, that clears one of the doubts.. just nice the Amazon set is 400, means got 7% GST? Anyone got experience with Amazon > $400 before?

Also, kinda stupid question, means we save $100 for a year warranty right? Not sure if worth it. My 3DS hinge broke in 6 months but Maxsoft customer service kinda sucks too..

Will Amazon declare the RRP and incur GST?
Not sure about Amazon Japan, but the way Amazon US and UK work is that they will calculate whether SG GST is required, if so they will collect it from you first. It will appear as "Import Fees Deposit" on your order. Then Amazon will basically take care of the whole process for you (pay SG customs etc) and have the box delivered directly to you (you dont have to go down customs or somewhere to pay and collect). The amount Amazon collected is their estimate, if the actual GST exceeds, Amazon will pay and absorb the difference. If the actual GST is significantly lower, they will refund you the difference. If Amazon doesn't charge "import fees deposit", that means no GST (so if there is actually GST, then Amazon absorbs). I havent bought over the SGD400 from Amazon Japan before so dont know whether it's the same there. You can probably test it out by adding more items to the Switch order (or increase quantity to 2) to see if import fees deposit pops up.

Depends on the device ba, those who had hands on with it said the build feels solid, got quality. Also, most of us only play 1 game and its not dark souls, what are the chances of it spoil?

There is one difference though, the Switch is home console as well. So far the handhelds are fully handheld, they are passive cooling, no fan. I haven't seen details on this about the Switch but from the picture, it looks quite thick and what's apparently air vents, so perhaps there is fan inside? It reportedly has nvidia gpu chip, so probably not passive cooling? Regardless it may produce more heat and could be more prone to failure given the small size (compared to home console).
