with both sockets populated. I then attach 2 Noctua F12s to the CPU1 and CPU2 headers plus one more to another motherboard fan header.
I've set the Fan control to 'Balanced mode' in the Bios.
What I get is a constant 800 RPM on the fans until the processors get to 45 degrees and then the fans ramp to their max of 1500 RPM. They then drop down to 800 RPM again after a minute or so. It's really maddening when that happens as it sounds as if a vacuum cleaner has gone off.
Is the fan control performed by the fan or the motherboard? Isn't there no proportional control to increase the fan speed according to the temperature? (or even with limited RPM steps)
