What about when there's not enough light?

I've owned the nokia 7 plus since May. It uses the same camera sensor as the pixel 2 so can pull light even in dark scenes, but the issue is noise reduction. if you dont leave the HDR on, low light is noisy, even if you can still capture dark scenes.

Can sort of think of it in this manner: If a camera can soak in more light, that means you dont need to dial up ISO. Low ISO means less noise in theory.

However the Nokia 7 Plus even at low ISO (basically anything that is not ISO 50) has trouble with noise reduction in any dark scenes or even dark coloured parts of dimly lit scenes. Without OIS, a stready handheld shot with slower shutter to compensate is also very hard.

For example in shots like above that have a black night sky I always see these 'white specks' all over the sky so I feel like the software denoise processing really could be better and I hope nokia can update in software. The lack of OIS though, major annoyance. You do NOT want to shoot 4k on this device.

HDR mode on stock app helps but then you will likely lose sharpness detail in the process. HDR+ camera apk also helps (honestly that app is a godsend to any phone, it made my old LG G6 auto mode way better) but of course that app comes with its own limitations like no manual mode, can't use 2nd cam, etc.

Anyone know where is the NFC location of Nokia 8?

I setup Citi pay on Nokia8 and not very successful in using it for payment. Tested with Ezlink cards and sometimes it works, though most of the time doesn't.

I checked nokia forum and seems I am not the only one facing this problem. Any suggestions?

ok somehow tonite my void deck very dark. to my nake eyes it's dark but with google hdr+ enhance. picture came out bright

It would be perfect if the phone has a fast way to turn on/off NFC. Right now gotta go thru settings.

For those looking for Nokia casing, I got N8 casing and screen protector from Aliexpress. Not too bad if you don't mind waiting.

You can install Tiles from Google Play Store, add the NFC toggle using this app. You need adb to enable the android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS first though.

Thanks for your suggestion but it's not free. I looked thru the same category and installed Nougat/oreo quick setting instead.

Didn't customise my phone enough to know existence of such apps. Thanks for showing the ropes.
