Is it recommended to get a m2 , pcie or msata as ssd with additional sata converter if the laptop can supported normal sata ssd? Since its cheaper?

2ndly, I am thinking of getting Samsung Evo 870 500gb to replace Samsung evo860.

What is the market price for a 256gb msata harddrive nowadays?

Should do a research from shopee or Lazada to get the correct price.
Ssd price more or less same as msata ssd today.

SATA are usually the cheapest.

Depend on your laptop, not all can support NVME.
If your currently support mSATA that means most likely support only SATA hard disk/SSD.
Just get a normal 2.5" SSD to replace your current hard disk.
FYI mSATA SSD can be hard to find.

mSATA standard has died.
nobody uses it anymore.

mSATA is obsolete, nobody uses it anymore.
Even if you can find mSATA SSD usually are used not new.

I just use Msata to transfer file.
Normal SSHD: 50mbps per sec
mSATA: 10mbps, furthermore the external chassis is very hot.
Not sure what to do with it. now.

That's slow. Nowadays, an external HDD can average at least 100 MB/s.

I know whats the issues. I connected to a non lightning usb port.
I changed the a lightning port speed has x 10.

Take note even if you want to use converter, depend how old the motherboard is.
Older motherboard cannot boot from NVME adapter so you have to check.
If you use a nVME to SATA, the speed will downgrade to SATA so might as well as
get a SATA SSD.

Anyway FYI you don't need a NVME for daily usage or to play games.
NVME SATA is useful if you are doing video editing and doing lots of file transfer
other than that difference between SATA and NVME drives are not noticeable.

I have a Samsung 870 EVO SATA and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVME, day to day can't notice
any difference unless you benchmark it.

i though TS want is nvme to sata but convert to sata is like u limiting your speed to sata speed....
