NOOB QUESTION ON DIVIDENDS

1) Why does shares like starhub has future information on the 2017 dividends payout. for eg.

Ex Date: 17 Apr 2017
Pay Date : 3 May 2017

2) What if I purchase Starhub shares today. Am I still eligible for the dividends payout during 3rd may?

1) this is so that buyers and seller can factor for the upcoming dividend into the share price

CD = you get dividend
XD = no dividend (it goes to the previous owner of the share)

I check with my broker. he said as long as I purchase before the XD, I can get the dividend. is that true?

Once financial report is out they will declear dividends... From there u can see if have anything r dun have and the dates... If u buy on 17th onwards then no dividends...
