If you like going outdoors, why not get a weather resistant camera like the Olympus Tough Series. Its very simple to use for the cheaper models and not too bulky either.

i suggest u go for "travel zoom compact camera" category; a small cam (ie. light n compact for travel) with good zoom, quite handy when there is a need to zoom in.

a) panasonic LF1, ~$450 or lower: a good all-rounder good at indoor n with good zoom up to 200mm. lower price now coz newer model is due soon. hard to find another model with similar all-rounder spec.

b) canon SX280, ~$360: v wide angle n v good zoom up to 500mm. plenty of other models with similar spec.

c) canon IXUS 265, ~$230: v wide angle n v good zoom up to 300mm. plenty of other models with similar spec.

I'd rather you go for a better one as you are going to use it for a really long time. I rather you pay slightly more for quality as technology advances just too quickly nowadays.

i went to research on this cam, it's like 699 sia!

just go to courts or harvey norman to look see and feel... then go funan to bargain down the prices on the camera u like.

just get a point and shoot, canon S110 or panasonic LX5 are not the latest so their prices should be decent now, latest is S120 and LX7.

if u wan a pretty camera, try fujifilm XF1, else their X10/X20 are good camera too for point and shoot.

if u dun mind a 2nd hand, can go to clubsnap forum to bargain hunt too.
