Hi all,

I am heading back to SG from Haneda airport and due to excessive shopping I've run out of luggage space!

I have allowance for 2 check in luggages but I only utilised one when I came to Japan.

Wondering if anyone could advise on my available options? Buying another luggage bag is so uneconomical.

For the airport there is bag wrapping but no boxes provided right?

Thanks in advance!

You can try your luck with the konbini or anywhere you think they may have used boxes?

You happen to have a tote bag that can be zipped? That's what I used few weeks ago when my luggage ran out of space, I had to use that bag which I brought along. Maybe you could try looking around for a zippable tote?

if you still have time today to walk around one of their shopping arcades, you can sometimes find cheap backpacks or mini luggage at around 1-2k yen. not sure if that's still too ex for you. my mom found a simple 2k one on our last day and packed the groceries she bought inside and checked in the luggage.

can ask your hotel if they have the cardboxes too.

One of the souvenir shop at haneda gave my wife a box free of charge when my wife asked for one after buying a few items from the shop... end up we went back to the shop and bought even more stuff to fill in the space... the sales girl very smart...

Most hotels in Japan also sell boxes... small one i think is 200yen... big one is 350yen...

you can try daiso, they have those plastic bag with zip. I bought one to check in my boxes of gunpla (gundam model), in 2 of my other trips, I bought new luggage from the premium outlet :p. I also have a foldable racksack or duffle bag always in my luggage in case I need more storage

When I came back from tokyo in Nov, I checked in a plastic bag full of titbits I bought at the departure lounge. All I did was scotch taped the whole bag with the help of the check in ladies. Tbh I was quite surprised the package arrived when I landed here.

ANA does provide box to pack loose items, tape-up and label for you during check-in.
Utilised this twice before, it's square white ANA box size approx 40cm length width height, big enough to pack lots of food stuffes.

JAL does not provide though, not sure about SQ or the other carriers.

Good to know. Thanks. Had I known earlier could've bought more stuff. :)
