Hi, recently MMI *** board Pes f-ed me due to my liver problem & have put me up for Pes F. MMI board didn't provide me with any MC and i was told to report to camp the day after. I've been going back to my unit from the 20th of april till today's payday, but turns out, because of my Pes F being processed, they have suspended my pay for this month and i won't be getting any. Is there any way to get my pay?

The Chairman board Pes F me on the day itself. But i wasn't provided with any sort of MC hence the next order was to report back to camp.
Logically they should pay you up till your offic discharge date. They are saying they wouldn’t?

Yep, they wouldn't because they don't know my official discharge date and they don't want me to be overpaid. This is honestly bullcrap since i'm still under SAF and still attending camp.

Erm. Wait. Suspended paying you doesn’t mean they cannot eventually oh you ma.

They don’t want to overpay you is a legit concern.

So nothing wrong if they want to know when your official discharge date is then backpay you what

Yea but the thing is i really need my Pay so that i can pay off my bills and also support myself. SSC told me there's the Special payment thing that my unit could write in for me. 90% this month and the other 10% the other. The thing is, they told me it'll take a few days or even a few weeks, does it depend on their workload or?

It's common practice to withhold your pay if you're leaving the service for whatever reason. The rationale being your normal pay day on the 10th of each month is an "advance pay".
i.e. 10th May pay covers 1st May to 31st May. But you haven't worked the whole month of May, so if you were to leave on 20th May, you have to pay them back 11 days. If they know you're not going to work until 31st May, they don't want to have this problem of asking you to pay back the 11 days. Withholding pay is easier from the admin point of view.

If you go to private sector, most companies will only pay you your salary after you've completed working for that number of days. Now, I get my pay at the beginning of May for work I did in the whole month of April. So won't have this problem of withholding pay.

Ya it's common for them do so. Although when i got pes F and they still paid me for my allowance, 10 months later, they sent a letter to my house asking me to pay back since they overpaid me.

TS talk to your superiors or chief clerk about this loh....

have you done that already?

unfortunately the whole process of downgrading and medical board on average takes 1-2 months at least.

having said that, dont expect your allowance to be very much (take note that NS gives you allowance, officially it is not salary). it will most likely be allowance for 1st may to 10th may, which is 1/3 of what you usually get.

I understand what you're saying. It seems to be some admin lapse or the usual ding dong style in SAF.

What I'm trying to say is the finance department isn't interested whether you're still reporting to camp or not, it's for the unit to deal with and to update the system. Finance department is as long as there is a potential for this person to be overpaid, if they can avoid it, they will avoid by withholding pay. That is their SOP.

You know how they work - very black and white and rigid. Everyone wants to protect their own backside and taichi the problem to someone else.

what happened to your liver? ???

They haven’t fully diagnose me yet but whatever it is, it’s really important. I have a few of my MRI appts with the doctor at SGH this coming month. But its something to do with the swelling on my ankle
