The "android os" is using 38% of the battery since updating to the latest firmware.

full charge at 10pm, the next day overnight (12hrs later) it's left with 50%.

before the update, the battery drain overnight is only 10 to max 20%.

anyone know what's the remedy ?

totally hating my note 3 now with this battery issue.

I don't have this issue as yet with my latest firmware update. Is it because of some app running background?

Yea I'm facing huge Android OS battery drain randomly and once it starts, it's gonna stick for quite some time. Even rebooting will not help.

Betterbatterystats unable to reveal anything useful. Gsam battery reports that it's the Android OS kernel causing wakelock, not allowing the phone to go into deep sleep... Still don't know the cause yet or how to go about fixing it.

Samsung alwaysssssss comes up with firmwares that drain battery much worse than before.

My friend also has a note 3 and i look under the battery settings......., his android OS takes up 7% of battery, mine 30+%,,,,and then something is keeping my android OS to "stay awake" which is not found in my friend's phone.

Any idea how to check what is keeping my android OS to "stay awake" ?

I just tried Wiping Cache in recovery to see if it helps. Trying to avoid doing a factory reset.

I damn sian already so just did a hard reset..now the android OS battery usage is less than 10%........i think it's some app i downloaded that cause it.

however after i reboot, the phone auto restore everything :s8:

well i stopped the auto restore halfway.....hopefully don't restore the app that caused the problems....

hard reset will cause firmware upgrade to be before ??

I wiped cache in recovery.. And got rid of the Android OS draining battery substantially. Still monitoring to see if it comes back again.

Download wakelock detector to find out the app that's causing the drain.

the battery drain seems to have slowed down and become normal after i clear cache several times as suggested here. i also disabled some apps and disabled auto update etc.........

however, android Os still showed up as biggest battery eater at about 23%, but doesn't "stay awake" as much as before.

I have been facing similar issues since the last couple of days myself. Since some update - the battery has been draining @ almost 1% per 1-2 minutes of usage. Tried un-installing a lot of apps and killed all processes but the problem still persists.

Noticed just this morning that my mobile data is also not working. Bloody frustrating! Doesn't say much about Samsung's testing processes before pushing out updates.

i had updated my phone abt 2 week back... yes at first i counter the battery did use very fast... than the next day, i close some running apps than i off the phone, took out batt and on it than the issue is gone... yester i full charge my phone at 11am till now i still got 40%.... yesterday was busy streaming you tube abt the riots the whold day...

Actually phone n ppl are the same also need to rest.... u can't be working 24/7 rite... phone also mah rite.... so wat i always do is i will restart my phone every 2 to 3 days to let the phone refresh....

What I did to get rid of the Android OS draining bug was:

Turn off phone.
Take out battery. (not sure how this helps but this seems to appear when I was googling around)
Insert battery.
Enter into recovery mode.
Wipe cache.
Reboot.

So far I've not kena android os drain (yet).
