So recently I went for my NS Checkup and when I told MO I had a shoulder injury before, he did a few stretching tests on my shoulder and there wasn't really any pain, which I told him. Got a "this guy sb chao keng" face from him who proceeded to professionally(props to him btw) explain to me that NS has no more over-arm exercises anymore (pullups removed, etc.), so there isn't any more risk of further injury. But still told him I'm going for specialist checkup to be sure.

Some context: I used to be a thrower in my school so I developed some shoulder issues (pain when i stretch in throwing positions, which got to the point where if i barely lifted my arm it would hurt like a b****). Then i went to follow youtube vids online and went to do exercises that moved my shoulder the opposite direction to throwing, which helped recover it a lot. Never went to the doc's for it. Then I realised after that now when i perform throwing actions the pain would return. So i declared it to MO during checkup.

I also realised that I didn't declare I had some issues with hearing, which is affecting my daily life a little too.(blast music too loud last time sian) I often find myself asking my friends to repeat what they said 2-3 times until they also damn fed up. So I'm going to be asking for referral letter to specialist for both when i go polyclinic soon.

Just wanted some general advice on what to do in my situation/ thoughts abt it. Also i heard from a friend hearing issue can downpes alot, and will affect future job opportunities too, are both true? If the latter is true should i not declare at all? Cos right now my mentality is got anything just declare, later 2yr get fked regret more Also if they think i damn chaokeng how ah i a bit scare got bad impression bad start to ns ah

Any advice is very much appreciated thank you!!

P.S.: I also have alpha thalassemia minor btw

No wonder... you deserve it. Want to have the cake and eat it.

If you shoulder is indeed so serious, you would have seen specialist so long ago. Why wait till now, when MO doesn't play ball then you act big gonna see specialist. tsk.

What do you mean you didn't realise? Is it after you heard from your friend hearing issue can downpes a lot then you start to realise?

So it seems like you want to downpes a lot yet scare it will affect your future job opportunities. classic chao keng behaviour. want to have the cake and eat. so your choice lor, don't declare (which is a chargeable offence), then in NS really suffer some form of life threatening injury as a consequences of you not declaring, then end up you really next time affect future job opportunities.

Don't worry, you already giving people the bad impression that you damn chao keng even before you start. well done.

Hi, sorry if I didnt clarify beforehand, i was telling my friend about my hearing issue and wanted to ask him about whether i should declare it, thats how the downpes conversation came about
So basically i already thought of declaring my hearing before knowing about it can downpes a lot, furthermore im not even sure, its just hearsay
I just didnt have a reason to get it declared bfore, neither did it cross my mind much to get it checked, although i did do frequency(Hz) tests on my own and i found that my upper range was significantly lower than my peers

And yes I've decided that my shoulder isnt that serious an issue, so i will not declare
My mentality was that i don't know what will happen in NS so idk if will affect or not. You yourself stated that its possible to suffer life threatening injury and I didnt want to risk that

Please. I just want a simple conversation, there is no need to be so toxic. Is it only ppl who chao keng that are scared of the consequences of their impairments? Im pretty sure those legit ones are too. Including me, so please be understanding, thank you for the feedback though, however harsh it was

It’s the way you put it across.
