My understanding is that this NSF Cyber Specialist Scheme is for people who are prepared to sign on for a 3-Year or 4-Year SAF programme.

Not for guys who are only serving their 2-year NS.

Also, those training at SIT, etc may earn Advanced Standings (ASs)for later university studies. Not sure if these ASs are recognised by the Big 3 local Unis (or other unis) for exemptions.

Any bros here to advise please. Thank you.

The news from your source and the word 'NSF' is already very clear to everyone. You will be a NSF holding vocations like Cyber Operator. If you decided to take up Cyber Specialist Awards (Short term + 1 or 2 years bond after your 2 years NSF), the highest rank you can hold is 1SG cause they did not set up Senior Specialist & Warrant Officer vocation and most likely you needs to cross over to military experts scheme if you want to carry on as a Regular. This is suitable for those who have not make up their mind before pre-enlistment.

If you want to sign on, it will fall under 2 schemes. These are: the Command, Control, Communications and Computers Expert (C4X) vocation under the military experts scheme, and the Defence Cyber Expert (DCX) job specialisation for defence executive officers.

Thanks Kyoji83,

If I sign on for either scheme, it will mean that any plan for university study will have to be delayed by 3 or 4 years.
Also without a degree can I be eligible for Defence Executive Officers (DXO) post? I thought these DXOs are for degree holders/SAF Scholars?

I feel that you are asking a stupid question. By now you should know that regardless if you are NSF or REG, you are under SAF for 24/7. Unless SAF sponsor you for university study, commander are not able to release you for full time studies. As for part time, commander do not see the point of releasing you for night class and exam especially if they deploy you overseas or your normal shift work. Of course, some units have good commander will plan your work schedule so that it will not crash with your part time studies but important activity like exercise, they will not release you due to operation need even if it crash with your exam. So any plan for university study will have to be delayed by 3 or 4 years and only can be achieved after you have ORD.

Normally we will call these civilian as Defence Executive Officer (DXO). But the term of Defence Executive Officer (DXO) and Defence Executive Assistant (DXA). DXO are given to Commission Officer equivalent jobs while DXA are given to WOSpec equivalent jobs.

Mostly DXO required Degree holder while DXA required Non-Degree holder. However it depend on your job. For example, DXO also have Nursing Officer equivalent jobs. Since you can become a Registered Nurse (Practicing Certificate known as Nursing Licence in lay man term) with a Polytechnic Diploma, you can also become a DXO rather than a DXA.

I am not sure if Defence Cyber Expert (DCX) have DXA positions which you may want to check it out yourself.
