GSM-only settings on your NTT docomo phone. (when you get new phones out of the box, it's usually preset default on AUTO under the
Other Settings > International Roaming under yr phone settings, network search mode you may leave it on AUTO though, if not stable then just try switching to manual *I have been using AUTO since day 1 with n_bennyhk's BBsim hypersim though, no issues at all)
I understand that you are new to all these, but actually most of these questions that you had asked, can actually be found pretty easily if you do a forum search. (like for example,
Kuro's FAQ general guide for japanese handphones which I gave you in one of the links above, is actually not more than 5 pages back in this forum section even if you don't search, but just by browsing thru by pages of this forum.
I am on singtel and hence alot of cpr is needed.
Anyway after i name my file correctly and place in the caller folder my sms tone still nva appear am i supposento do something to it?
Or do you all have a more detailed guide than the one at the first page
Uh, seriously I think I have mentioned abt this many times on this forum, there are many Singtel users ard like me who have no issues with regards to CPR-ing for keitai, I basically only do a CPR process for my phones every 3-6 mths once. The last I did a CPR for my P-01B was back during sometime in July this yr, and I haven't done any CPR-ing for my phone since.
I will give you a hint if you haven't been reading up the forums, for NTT docomo phones getting a GPRS signal instead of GSM (which u can see on yr stand-by screen when you turn on yr phone) will yield you better network stability, as compared to when u're on GSM. (this has nothing to do with your phone settings btw, since inside our NW settings under International Roaming, you can only choose btw AUTO, 3G and GSM) It's all about your CPR process and what local phone you're using for the CPR process.
You may wanna try reading up
this thread before you start to condemn Singtel subscribers been incompatible with keitai usage. From what I understand, Singtel and M1 are probably having the best results when it comes to having stable GSM coverage with keitais, I won't say the same for Starhub though cos back during early iNEX hypersim days (which I have used before too), Starhub has always been the problematic telco carrier when it comes to keitai usage, and I have also studied abit in the past when it comes to radio communication, DCS/GSM-1800MHz network band is probably one of the worst bands to use for GSM network coverages, which is what Starhub has been providing for 2G coverage in SG in terms of their network towers. (3G coverage for Starhub is an altogether different matter here though)
As for the written guides on the 1st page of this thread, I just went through it abit and understand that it can be quite incomplete, since most of the guides or hotlinked information contributed by Skyline R34 are sorta in an unfinished state. Since he's already doing the community a nice favour by starting up a general FAQ guide for NTT docomo phones for the newbies, I think it's up to him to clean up this thread. So let's just kindly give him some time to do and properly clean up the guide on the 1st page.
