I am a year 3 engineering student. Currently, I am at second lowers honors. Internship will start next week at a SME.

After calculations, I realize I am stuck in my second lower, given I do not drop to third class. Especially when internship is pass/fail now, I have not enough AU to pull up my GPA.

For my CCA component, I have only done sub-comm in my hall. What I can best do, is to chiong to find a new CCA for my final year.

I worry for my employment upon graduation.

Any advise from seniors how is the current job market and if my second lowers will seriously disadvantage me, both private and public jobs.

2:2 isn't detrimental to your job employment. That said, there are many factors including the field you're going to work in, have you intern-ed with them before, govt. or private sector et cetera.

First pass would be screening your results. for a 2:2 you should be able to comfortably get into the private sector. for public sector usually would be good with a 1 or 2:1. that isn't to say you can't enter. chances are there.

i cannot back up what i said with results now but do ask around and you'll believe

In my experience, 2:2 is not a serious disadvantage. Neither do grades play a hugely important role in employment opportunities.

You should write a good resume which outlines how you can contribute to the company. Grades some times are used as a screening factor but a 2:2 won't close that many doors to you.
