Sorry for the late reply.. haven’t been online on the forum.. I can’t reply ur private message due to not enough post counts..
Went down for the interview on 11 May, there were 2 interviewers who are the lecturers from the course, they asked me about why I chose Chinese, what do I want to do after graduation and based on my application profile, they asked what have I been doing for the past 2 years after my graduation from Ngee Ann poly, why I did not chose to study Chinese studies in ngee Ann poly, did I chose NUS FASS, why and why not and lastly they asked to share one modern literature that I have read and share it. That all they asked. Language used for the interview was chinese. Did not have any written essay. Hope I answered ur questions..@dreamsxc

I am sure you and the few other members posting here cannot represent all the students of Chinese language out there, but I am still curious to know why you chose Chinese as your major, minor and all.

Do you study it out of sheer interest in the language, and nothing else?

Or do you aspire to become a school teacher and since you also like Chinese, so what better course can there be but Chinese?

Or are you aspiring to become a professional interpreter between English and Chinese? For that job, you'd need to be able to speak and write almost flawless English, so having excellent Chinese is not good enough.

If your objective is to be able to live and work in China, I think if you have done Higher Chinese in your secondary schooldays, you are already in good form...and along the way in China, you should be able to get better and better just by being immersed in an environment when Chinese is spoken and written everywhere all year round.

No need to talk about Higher Chinese...even if you have taken 快速, you can improve very fast already in China.

I am sure you and the few other members posting here cannot represent all the students of Chinese language out there, but I am still curious to know why you chose Chinese as your major, minor and all.
