Legally, its wrong to lie to a public servant, ie the principal and also to the police officer when he had his address changed. However, NTU is an autonomous institute and the Housing and Auxiliary department of NTU consist of private individuals and not civil servants. NTU also has no way to check your real address. Although, if you get your address changed on your IC, you might end up facing charges.

What are you trying to get out of this question? I have heard of students reporting fake address to NTU. However, there are also people outside there tried stealing, raping and murdering, does that mean you are going to do it since someone else has tried it before?

There are many way to legally get a room in the NTU Halls. And, your integrity is worth much more than a freaking room.

They record your address based on your IC - nothing else. And lying about your address in your IC has consequences, as shared by nady2015

Actually now that ntu has the shuttle bus service in the morning, it may not be that inaccessible. Plus the money savedmight be put to better use.
