hello guys, i would like to know more about this course.... Any seniors out there could share about this course? How is uni life or culture like? Does direct honours benefit? Jobs prospects? Lastly, why did you choose econs!
For me i like both maths and econs but not sure whether can excel in this course >< Thanks for all your replies!

Yes, i would like to enquire about ntu economics too!Haha..Would like to know if the content is more statistics based (like nus econs), or more case-study scenario like in junior colleges? And would it be advisable to take ntu econs if i took H1 econs in jc(got a B)? someone reply plsss :s

Does direct honours benefit?

no benefit at all.
direct honours =/= confirmed honours.
if your GPA lousy, you still have to do 4 years and grad with no honours.
bloody waste of time.

NUS is a much better choice.

Yup.. ntu econs may nt be as reputable but i guess the contents that they teach is about the same. And the direct honours thing is a double edged sword =x

Force u to study hard so that you have good gpa or you waste the last year...

Fass is more reputable but there might be a small chance you will not get to major what you want(not very sure about this, some say this some say not true, no idea!!)

Econs is more maths based so H1 econs doesnt mean you wont do well.

Hope i am right, if any current senior from ntu econs could clarify!

you just need to take the exposure module before declaring it as a major. simple as that. if you can't even handle the exposure module, you really are not fit to major in econs.

I've never ever heard of anyone in FASS not getting the major of their choice.

Would kindly appreaciate if any ntu econs seniors can clarify my doubts, as i am looking at all the econs courses in the 3 local uni and is currently inclining more towards ntu econs than smu and nus econs despite it is less well-known.

I'm not from econs, but looking at my friends in the course, it's more than likely that you will grad with honours as long as you put in some effort. Some as in O level kinda effort.

Obviously the better honours classifications need more studying...and obviously ntu is easier than nus...

If let's say, you are really that unlucky and wasn't able to attain the honors from FAss econs, what can you do with a Bachelor of Arts degree? It will only mention bachelor of social science (econs with honours) if only u can get honours.

The degree in ntu is also a bachelor of arts mah

None of my non honours nus friends have problems finding jobs leh. In fact so many of them working in IBs.

if you aspire to work in the public sector, then it shouldn't matter does it?
most of the hiring managers would have been NUS econs grads anyway.
