NTU MSc Interview & Written Test?

Advice needed upon

Hey there friends.

A friend of mine has applied for MSc Information studies (1st preference) and MSc Information Systems ( 2nd preference)

Based upon this she has been called out for an interview ONLY for her 1st preferred course.

Now, the question is, is there by any chance an option to change my preference to Information systems and attend the interview for the same, instead of Information studies.

If anything so, PLS do reply asap, as time s ticking and the interview is due next week.

You can write it a request but from what i heard from my friend who is studying there, they allow the switch once only so consider carefully..

Hi Vicky,

Yes, *if* you are offered a place, I am sure you can write in to switch from FT to PT or vice versa. I guess there are more people taking the PT option due to work commitments. Whether you are *allowed* to switch depends on how many such requests are received and if there are available places in the PT course to meet the demand.

This is my best guess on how they handle such requests. Email or call them to clarify..

As to other forummers on what to prepare, I guess topic to write will be anything under the sun. Their intent i guess is not so much what you know but to assess your writing and communication skills (well this is the school of communication that we are applying)

When you are given the essay question, you are required to write your preferred MSc course on the answer script, if I recall correctly. The interview is conducted by the school. Meaning to say that it's anybody's guess which prof you will get who will be interviewing you but generally, if you chose Info Sys as first choice, you should be interviewed by faculty who teaches modules in Info sys but do bear in mind that as it's a school we are talking about and considering there are profs who teach different modules across all three MSc courses, there will always be a possibility that faculty deems you as more suitable for your second choice as compared to your first choice. Just keep your fingers crossed.

Hi guys, received the invitation too but just wondering if it is possible to convert from FT to PT for this program?

I believe in the school, the same rule applies -->

You can change status from full-time to part-time, or part-time to full-time, 2 weeks before the start of the semester subject to approval from the Programme Director. So do come for your orientation to get a clearer picture of who is the Programme Director after you have already secured a place. Gd Luck!

It can be any general questions on issues of climate, war, famine, global warming, proliferation of nuclear weapons, problems facing the current education sectors and the list goes on. For the interview, just remain calm and you should be able to pull through. Usually, faculty asks questions like why do you want to choose this course or how do you think this course can benefit you in the long run or how do you think the knowledge you acquire from your choice of course can help you in solving the <problem as described in your essay written test>.

If you do not know what does KM do or what does it entails in industry, I suggest you do your homework before commenting.

Nothing much to prepare for as the essay questions are general ones. Just be yourself and answer the standard questions during the interview on why you think you are suitable. As for intake numbers, perhaps the following link is useful:

Plz check this out:
"Update: For the MSc programmes, candidates shortlisted for interviews will be invited via your email address listed in your application form. There are some very strong candidates who may be recommended to be accepted into the MSc programme based on their applications. If you do not receive an interview invitation, you may have been recommended for a direct offer. All candidates will know the outcome to your application end May 2012 onwards via your application account."

I think, Interview invites to Indian applicants have already been sent. Those who haven't received it may expect a direct offer or reject.

I din't get the call for interview either. I think the page only said that those who do not get a call for the interview might have been offered direct admission. I don't think it was mentioned that their result would be out within March.
