The cohort is very small and only the 1st batch of graduates only graduated last year so its hard to really say but employment stats aren't too bad though how related are the jobs is something questionable.

You might want to check with SPMS or PAP website about career prospects and such. If you been offered the course, there should be a tea session where you can field your enquiries if any.

Considering the small cohort of PAP students, having 2 here is quite surprising i must say considering 3 yrs in SPMS and i only know like 2 PAP students...

Am finishing my first year soon. Profs in this course are friendly and approachable so far. Cohort size is small and very competitive. Alot of hardwork, interest, and effort is needed as u should know physics is never a walk in a park. Let alone pure physic. Basically, the pros in this course is they engage us to think and learn. If u have a love for physic and applied math, this will be the course for u.

And i have to stress again, its very challenging.

Physics is more a academic subject than a applied subject like engineering which in a way could be considered as a form of applied physics. The job prospects for physics students won't vary too far from the academic path though the skills they learnt might be applicable in other sectors.

Base on the recent career fairs, there are hardly any jobs that is really unique to PAP students but for most generic jobs that will take in any degree, PAP students are accepted. I think certain engineering positions might consider PAP students as well depending on the job scope but i already thrown away the list of job opportunities from this year's career fair.

However, what i learnt from speaking to some of the people there was that at times you may not have the required degree but if you show a strong passion for the job and have additional experiences etc in the area, your chance of getting a job is not lower than someone who has the relevent degree.

Icic...our first batch who graduate so i heard is 20+ peeps. So in years to come it will come to a clearer picture i hope. But of course, when people study for a pure science subject, they normally do it for future research or interest.

In terms of what they study, yes, it is very different from engineering after the first semester. In terms of difficulty, I would say engineering is more difficult than physics in NTU. Other schools might differ. But engineering has better career prospects and a higher employment rate.

NTU Engin also has compulsory FYP and compulsory internship. For Physics, if you not that good you can choose to avoid doing the FYP and replace it with a longer internship instead. It makes the course load much easier.
