Hi, i am currently serving ns and will be studying in ntu this year august in computer science. I was worried because people told me computer engineering has a better in finding jobs. I was wondering if i would be able to switch course after a year in comp sci and switch to comp eng and start from 2nd academic year of comp eng?
Anyone has done it before? Might telling me more about these two courses?
My piece of advice. Don't always listen to what your friends say. Really, this kind question is really subjective. Your success don't come to what kind of computing courses you are taking. If you like to have the skills of both hardware and software - Choose Comp Eng else choose Comp Science. Go along with your interests because no matter what. You will have to deal with
maths throughout your 3 / 4 years.
Don't let your peers influence you. Make your own decision and go for it. If i say this course earn the most, will you believe? You see, from this question. there is no concrete evidence that this course earns the most as it is subjected to individual skills such like knowing how to market yourself, the roles you applying to and so much more. No one in this world can guarantee you that you can definitely get high salary with uni cert. Because the worlds you are seeing today are
- Competition with Local Graduates
- Competition with Graduates from other foreign countries (They will always inflate the market with low salary) --> this is when you realise your degree seems like no value after your graduate
Furthermore, do not treat the course lightly. They are not as easy as you think. I urge you to make preparation before you go in (Know your strengths, fast learner? hard worker? smart worker?) Go read up on Discrete mathematics, Python Programming, buck up on your sec maths, a level maths, the modules you are taking. go read up on it.. don't waste your time idling in NS) The environment in NTU will certainly change you at times, adapt to it because this is

Most of the modules taught are the same in Year 1. I suggest you to try first year first then change course online (there will be a option in student link), sometime you have to try before you know what you want.
