NTU vs NUS Mechanical Engineering

Hi, anyone here happen to know anything about NTU and NUS mechanical Engineering? Like the pros and cons of the school curriculum and differences or similarities?

I came from JC and do not have much experience to differentiate between the two and was trying to find people who have more experience and could provide me some insights.. Would anyone have any other insights that could help?

For the lab sessions, even though for NUS's lab isn't a module itself, would the things we do be lesser than NTU? One of my concern is also not being able to be exposed to enough practical sessions if I were to go to NUS.

I got my NUS offer late and idk which to choose now.. really appreciate any help! Thank you!

I think whichever course you take, results come first. A 1st class honor beats a 2nd upper no matter which U you graduated from. Just my guess.

That's my thought too. That's why I'm hesitant to choose NUS cause I'll be competing with people that has stellar grades compared to mine.. But would you happen to know if the entry for Mech to NUS decreased this year?

What makes you think the people in NTU are less stellar? Hello, 2017 already. If there is one area that ntu is hands down better, it is engineering.

None of my posts actually mentioned me saying that people in NTU are less stellar. I'm merely comparing with reference to the 10th percentile rp entry itself. Comparing the intake size and 10th percentile, NUS is smaller and higher respectively. Thus, the competition there would be stiffer. Obviously there are still people with straight As entering NTU as well, just that there would still be a portion of people in NTU that have grades that are lower than NUS's 10th percentile and closer to mine, hence I feel more comfortable in NTU. My rp difference compared to NTU and NUS's 10th percentile is 5 and 15 respectively. What I mean is my abilities compared to those that enter NUS, as 15 rp is a great gap compared to 5. In no way am I saying the students in NTU are in any way lousier than NUS.

Would appreciate if you were able to give constructive advice instead of putting words into my mouth.

There you go. You seem to worry too much on competition instead of your own capabilities. You seem to want to compete against mediocre competition and afraid to put yourself up against the best of the best.

JC life is over. Uni is a fresh start. Pick whichever uni suits what you are looking for in terms of modules, college life etc. but the last thing you should ever worry about is the "competition"

If you truly want something easy to score, go to a PEI where the competition is truly easy.

Not only is your lengthy tirade unconstructive and not answering OP's question at all, you're also completely ignoring the legitimacy of his concerns regarding the competition, which you apparently don't understand the importance of.

Mess with the best, die like the rest. Ever wonder why so many families with the $$$$ to spend send their kids to australia/new zealand to study? Go figure.

NTU Mech Engr: 10% = 3.44 (BCC/C) 90% = 3.93 (AAA/A)
