First time it died, my internet slowly became unstable, power to the ONT was on but keeps resetting the moment it connects

Second time it died, my internet became unstable very quickly and the router complained cable disconnected, when I went to the ONT the power was off

Looks like 12V 1A isn't enough for this?

ONT power adapter if really faulty ask Starhub to replace it for you. It is also good to check the RJ45 cable from the ONT to the Router WAN.

RJ45 cable from the router to the switch (Assuming) you have one is also a good idea.

If the power adapter can't supply enough juice, the ONT won't power up. So somewhere is faulty, can be
home wiring or the ONT.

I suggest you try plugging the power adapter into another socket/ power point to try out. Sometimes a faulty electric socket may kill the adapter over time. The Nucleus Connect ONT that came with the Starhub broadband is not even warm under load when I touch it, so I don't think it is drawing too much power. Otherwise, it should at least heat up quite a bit.

I don't think it won't power up since it should not be off the power requirement by much. So if the ONT draws too much power, I do expect symptoms like the adapter running very hot since it is overworking. But I do agree that it could be either faulty power socket or ONT. But will need to isolate the issue. The easiest is proably to test the power socket by changing to another power point/ extension for now.

If using extension, opt to buy one of this socket tester to test if any socket have issues.
